I was scrolling down to the pic, expecting to see some kind of deformed hand! Your hands are normal!- Trust me, we all look at ourselves with in such a distorted light!

Your ring and hand both look great.

Me too! The state of my fingernails are a constant disappointment to me!

I think your ring looks really nice on your hand.

lol, I love the extra scratch; it adds a certain something πŸ™‚

Seriously though, your hands are beautiful. I wish mine were like yours. Mine are old hands that have worked hard, so I try to hide them as much as I can.

Sorry, just re-read your post and I see you didn’t want to hear positive reinforcement. πŸ™‚

I will say that I’ve never loved the look of my hands, but I’m more concerned with my flabby tummy…:)

@unixfairy: Um, YES YES YES! (Your hands are pretty btw) It’s funny- I never realized how frickin UGLY my hands were until I got engaged & took some photos of my ering! First thoughts- “Wow, my hands look 20 years older than my face!”, “Is there really that much hair on my fingers? geesh!”, & “Shit, my hands are too ugly for my beautiful engagement ring!”.

Trust me, you are not alone πŸ™‚

I know exactly how you feel!! I have been actually cutting my nails shorter and for some reason feel better about my fingers lately? I used to let my nails grow (somehow I am blessed with great nails despite weird fingers) because I figured they would make my fingers look longer? I’m not sure how, but I like my fingers a lot more with short nails! (always worth a try!)

@CaptainSpaulding: Same here!Never gave my hands a second thought until now.

I have dishydrosis on my hands (think constant dry skin and hangnails constantly) along with peeling nails and short stubby fingers. I am my own worst critic though!

@unixfairy: Your hands are lovely, even with a scratch! πŸ™‚

Right there with you. My hands always look terrible because of the work I’m doing right now. Scratches, really dry patches, chipped nails, all ewness. On top of that, I hate staring at hands, I think they look so weird if you look too long at them.

I know exactly how you feel! I feel like my hands are really hairy (and my hair is dark so it just shows up more) which already made me paranoid, but a month after we got engaged I was making shrimp and grits and the grits bubbled and hit my ring finger…it blistered and now it’s scarred!  Ugly hands!!!  Wah!

Um… you’re crazy. Sorry but your hands look fine and you have great nails! I have terrible hands! I feel like they’re too chubby for how small they are (like my hand as a whole is small but my fingers are 6.5) and I have terrible skin so my hands always look wrinkly and shiny.

TOTALLY can relate to this one.  I have super dry skin so my hands are really wrinkled.  Plus a few winters ago I fell skiing and broke my pinky on my left hand and the bone didn’t set straight, so I have a VERY bent pinky next to my ring as well.  Anytime I sent photos of my ring, it was always OFF my finger.  Glad I’m not the only one!!

I can relate to this. I like my hands, but I HATE my nails.

It’s my own fault, really… I was a VERY bad nail biter until I was about 21 or 22… I would bite them all the way down to the nail bed.

I (mostly) broke myself of it over the past couple years, but they’re still really brittle, and they break easily, especially because I have such a short nail bed.

Add to it the fact that my nail biting caused me to have “ski slope” nails that grow away from the finger instead of down…. basically, I can’t get acrylic nails without looking like a freak show.

I have been doing my best to grow them out naturally… If I can at least keep them at a decent length for the wedding, I’ll be happy.
