I watch all these wedding shows and the brides always say ” I can’t wait to have everyone looking at me” I feel the complete opposite especially about walking down the aisle. I am actually a very outgoing person but I just hate people staring at me! I know I signed up for this when I decided to have a bigger wedding but is anyone else nervous?
I even asked my fiance if I could stand at front and he would walk down the aisle…. He wasn’t a fan of that idea! 🙂

I know I worry about this too! Maybe have just immediate family at the ceremony! Or make it really dark in there LOL

@Miss Sardine: we are having a weekend event so everyone will already we there and it is outside! 🙂 Good thoughts though!

Yes, I am scared to death. I don’t really like to be the center of attention, and I am afraid I will do something stupid like fall.

I’m not really very shy, but I actually dread that moment as well- all of that concentrated staring…I’m just going to keep my eye on Fiance and smile…

YES!!! i don’t like being the center of attention… and it seems like such a loooong walk, too! I’m just hoping I can smile and not cry bc I don’t want ugly crying pics of me walking down the aisle!

I didn’t really like it. I had what I thought was a great idea that we could all just kind of be there mingling like normal and when it became time to do the vows, we could just kind of meander up to the front and do our thing.

I don’t like being in the spotlight, either. Plus, I started out walking alone (he met me halfway). I started to get serious butterflies that morning about it. But I’ll tell you what calmed me down: we did photos before the ceremony, including a first look. Once I saw him, and then our families, I relaxed completely and I couldn’t wait to get the ceremony started!!

@NotYourTypicalBride: i totally plan to do that too! walk halfway and have Fiance meet me! but i have been wondering about the logistics of it….like do you have just stop and stand there and wait while he walks to meet you? or are you walking at the same and meet in the middle? i kind of wanted to walk bymyself for the first half with him standing at the front, so i can have that moment of him just standing there watching me walk. but then i think i might feel odd just stopping in the middle and waiting! how did you do it?

I am so nervous. And I am only having around 70-80 people. I hate when the attention is on me. Its an irrational fear of mine…but I feel like I am going to throw up when I’m half way down the aisle. I think taking a shot before the wedding will calm my nerves though. Maybe two.

I am nervous about tripping or making a funny face… I am good at both those things. But I am so excited to walk down that aisle. I am a self proclaimed attention whore so I will soak it all in… while being terrified I am concentrating too much and not smiling (like I did at my graduation) or trip and fall on my face infront of everybody or walk to slow, or too fast or… ugh… I need a drink.

@dynamic_duo: It was too cute – I just posted the pics on another related thread, but I’ll post them again below… I started walking by myself while he stood at the front. He was supposed to start walking toward me after a few steps by myself. But then suddenly he JOGGED toward me! (That was a fun surprise for me, and the guests got a real kick out of it. 🙂
I think it depends on the setup of your ceremony, but he can probably wait for you to walk maybe 10-12 steps, and then start walking himself. Guys have larger strides and he’ll walk faster than you, anyway, so it will work out even if it’s not exactly halfway.
Now for the pics (again!):

@NotYourTypicalBride: that does sound and look adorable! love the pics!

@NotYourTypicalBride: I so love those lanterns, every time I see your photos.
I’m getting a little moe nervous the closer it gets, but i’m only worried incase I slip up, trip or something.

I, too, hate being the center of attention. I’m also not photogenic and I don’t always have the most self-confidence so I’m sure I’ll be panicking a bit inside about everyone snapping pictures of me. Aside from that, I haven’t thought too much about the walk down the aisle, but I’ll probably get really nervous as the wedding gets closer. I’m just a nervous person in general.
