I wore a dress I already owned, there are like…2 pictures from the rehearsal dinner, it was fairly laid back,  I didn’t feel the need to make a big deal out of it and spend yet more money on yet another dress to wear for a couple hours.

I’m not!  I’m weating my grandmother’s vintage brokade party dress from the 60’s.  I had it shortened a bit and tailored to fit me.  She passed away a few years ago and we were very close.  It’s my way of having her with me on the most important few days of my life!  I do’t have a picture of it but it looks very much like this:

I had the idea that I’d wear white/ivory to our rehearsal, but have had no luck finding anything I like – there are so many white dresses out there that are SO SHORT!  There was a Lela Rose dress on Rent the Runway that I loved, but it’s not available when I need it.  I have a silk slip dress by Yumi Kim that’s mostly coral with wide white and navy bands that would work, but I’m thinking that’ll be my ‘shower’ dress unless I find something else in the next two weeks.  I mean, I love shopping, but I’m spending too much $$$ on the wedding itself to keep buying limited-use dresses :

Also, of COURSE this would be the first year in recent memory that J. Crew doesn’t make their strapless cotton ‘beach’ dress in white…I have it in madras from several years back and in white or a white-based print it would be PERFECT for my rehearsal dinner (BBQ/clambake), boooooooo 🙁

I too have been looking for a little white dress to wear to the rehearsal, but I’m just too picky I guess. Since it’s in 4 days and I still have nothing (and no plans to go shopping in this crunch time) I’ll probably re-wear my bridal shower dress. To hell with anyone who judges, it’s a cute summer dress that looks great on me. It’s a tan and white pattern with tiny coral and navy colored birds in the print. Hard to describe, but is adorable (and $11 from Ross! Friend guessed it was Anthropologie. Hah!)

Wearing white/ivory to pre-wedding events is a fairly new trend. I prefer the tradition that the bride saves white/ivory for the wedding day. I wore purple.

@GeorgiaBride5:  No, traditionally a bride would not wear white to pre-wedding events.

I’m wearing shorts, a t-shirt and flip flops!  We will be decorating the tent all day and will be taking a quick break for the rehearsal and then pizza and back to finishing up all the decorating.

I’m not!  My dress is coral with a lace overlay.  Got it for half off at Nordstrom Rack!  It wasn’t until I got it home that I thought it would make a great Rehearsal Dinner dress.

@mrsSonthebeach:  I wore Purple too – went with my colors for the Wedding Day.  Saved white/ivory for the wedding. Though for some reason it looks like Cobalt in the pics.

I wore a maroon dress, one of our wedding colors 🙂
