Both me and my best friend didn’t get a period back for 6 months after the pill and we both had completely normal cycles prior to using the pill. I’ve heard it can take up to a year for people to regulate. Some women are lucky and go back to normal cycle 1, I think most people’s bodies take more time to wake up and start making its own hormones again! I also lost a ton of hair before I got my period back!

I used to use the birth control patch when I was younger.  My period was always regular before I used birth control.  After I stopped using the patch, I didn’t get my period for almost a year.  When it came back I remember the blood was very dark.  After that first time, it resumed normally.

I forget now how long it took for me to get my period back after stopping the birth control pill, but from what I recall it was a few months. I have heard of it taking longer, but I always thought that was associated with other forms of birth control like the shot. I was going to ask what type of birth control you were on, but then I re-read your post and saw that you said it was the pill. I guess its just a highly personal thing that will vary from person to person.

Took me two months. Then I had two long cycles (40 days each) and now I’m on day 43 of a cycle with no ovulation yet. My doctor had said to call her if it didn’t come back in three months. I have a regularly-scheduled appointment on Thursday and plan to ask her about this.

Hopefully the results of your blood test will provide some answers!

mrsnitti17 :  My cycle has definitely been wonky since I got off bc. It’s only been about a month, but no ovulation or period yet! FX that things regulate for you soon! xxx
