@Petite_Fraise:  Any chance, you can not have it if you are dreading it? Ordinarily, I would say that if your guests really enjoy it, do it anyway but you shouldn’t have to dread anything about your own wedding.

@Petite_Fraise:  I am Jewish but having a completely secular wedding. I wouldn’t want to do the hora either but it is only a few minutes out of the whole night.

I’m not a J-Bee, but FI is, so he really wants to do it.  I’m dreading it too, because I seriously can only picture myself falling and making a mess of myself!

Awe! You’re def not getting out of it! Lol  I think once you get started you’ll have a blast! It’s actually what I’m most looking forward to! Try not to think ok it as dancing per se…..more just goofing off with friends and family 🙂 I must admit I am worried about falling off the chair!

OK, I can totally understand your concern, but you will be fine.  I have to say, it was actually one of the most fun times of my wedding – maybe one of the most fun times ever!  If you fall, it’s not from so far (my MIL fell out, and then just got back right into the chair, she was fine!), and it’s just so high energy and happy, it will be great! The more you can relax and get into it, and the idea of it, the more fun you will ultimately have.  Enjoy!

I was terrified that my dress would be slippery and I’d go sliding off the chair and break my nose or something on our wedding night. But once it actually started I didn’t want it to stop. It was SOOOO much fun!

I claimed a couple of people I trusted for my lifting team well in advance, which helped calm me down a lot. Trust me, no one wants you to fall.  I know things can get rowdy and the idea of a bunch of tipsy guys hoisting you in the air sounds intimidating, but if you just casually ask a couple of strong, sensible friends/relatives to be among the ones lifting you and confide that you’re nervous about falling, they will see to it that nothing bad happens.

Gahhh I wish I could get married again just to relive the hora!!!

You won’t fall and it’s sooooo much fun!  If your venue has armchairs, those are ideal, but our venue didn’t (just sturdy chairs) and I held on to the bottom and it was fine.  Your guests will help take turns holding people up so don’t stress!  The best part was when we put DH’s niece and nephew up in the chairs 🙂

I like dancing but I too fear falling off the chair and tripping over my dress lol but I think it will be okay!! I am sure when the time comes you will be on such a high that you won’t even be nervous 🙂 It will be fun!

I was nervous about it too but it was so much fun–plus the pictures we got from it are great! Definitely try to find chairs that have arms, it’s a lot easier to stay in. I was kind of dreading it too but in the moment I really enjoyed it! I’m sure you’ll have fun.

Its one of my favourite parts of the wedding celebrations!! Everyone you know, love, care about and who care about you will be dancing around you, participating n the joy and celebration that you only get once in your life. I say live it up!! You don’t have to be a good dancer, you just have to have a good time. Hope you have a blast!!
