Been there, done that!! Our first wedding was 11/17/09 in India and I met his parents, brother and the rest of the family when we got there (only one week before the wedding). It was insanely stressful for me (I get stressed easily, though) and like a whirlwind. If you can talk more on the phone beforehand, that’ll probably help!! ๐Ÿ™‚

ETA: The reason it was so stressful, is because about 16 family members came and stayed at the house with us leading up until the wedding. THAT was the most stressful part for me. Not meeting his parents. I’m sure you’ll be fine. ๐Ÿ™‚

@Jushackett: That’s great that you already feel like you “know her”. I’m sure it’ll be great!

I wont meet any of his family until the wedding. His parents live in China and his 6 siblings and their families are scattered around the western US.

Thats exactly whats happening with me. I wont meet my Husbands mom till the day oft he wedding( well probably a few days before).

But she lives in Poland and, it not easy for people out there to travel.

We had planned on going there to visit her, but since the traveling is $$$$

We decided its best for her to come out for the wedding, then when we have children itll be our turn to visit.

Let me clarify – I can stand her, she’s perfectly nice, but she’s passive aggressive and has been a little…selfish…during wedding planning (i.e. I only want to pay for things that are clear I’ve contributed them such as a rehearsal dinner – that we very much did NOT want, while inviting 11 of her friends to our wedding at a time when my parents have no income).  So yeah…she’s not my favorite person, but I don’t dislike her.  I would just like her to be less passive aggressive, less wimpy, and more “cultured” in a way where she can connect to people who don’t want PBS and think a weekend of scrabble is the best thing ever.  Maybe I’m too plebian!
