I haven’t seen the new one, but from your description I honestly don’t find it all that offensive because if my Fiance did that I would seriously crack up laughing. I think you might be taking it a little too seriously.

Haven’t seen it, but as stupid as their other commercials are, I do not think they are meant to be taken seriously, and most people know that marketing is mostly lies to entice you to buy something. Yes there are some men who truly believe that girls really are that high maintenance but not every guy believes that. Take it with a grain of salt, especially since adult men do not use the product.

Offended by the new axe commercial? Try offended by every axe commercial.  And offended by the horrible smell of the product for that matter.  All I can say is they clearly know that their market is middle/high school boys, and they’re embracing it. Disgusting.

Those Axe adds are always over-the-top and ridiculous. Like “if you use this body spray girls will knock over walls to get with you.” 🙂

Randomness…my bf had some kind of Axe bodywash awhile back (I think it was Axe, it actually smelled pretty good though so not sure) and apparently it had some little suggestive cartoon or something on the back. His mom saw it in his shower and took to calling it his “sex soap”. That wasn’t awkward at all haha.

Oh, and on topic, you may be taking this just a little too seriously. I usually think the commercials are kinda funny, in a juvenile sort of way.

I hate all the Axe commercials.  HATE.  Because while someone with half a brain may know that they are meant to be facetious, most budding hormonal tweenagers who are the target market are getting the impression that women are animalistic no-brained morons.  I don’t care how over-the-top they make it, I will always hate their commercials.

My Darling Husband hates them too, so I don’t think it’s just a woman thing.

I haven’t seen that one, but yeah, axe commercials piss me off. For all the “don’t take things so seriously” comments, yeah, I get its supposed to be funny, but would you say the same thing if ads made fun of another stigmatized group (like differently abled individuals)? I’m sort of sick of the “these things really don’t matter” attitude because when we aggregate all the times that girls and women see and hear messages that depict us negatively, it does have an effect. (end rant)

I was actually wondering recently if anyone else hated this commercial like I do.

@bamboo- I totally agree!  I mean, can you imagine the outcry if it was a racial minority rather than women who were being portrayed that way?  I mean, I know that that would be totally different (Don’t attack me here people, I’m not saying that it’s the same thing!) but an offensive portrayal of one category of people (in this case, women) is always unacceptable, and always matters.

Commecials don’t offend me and Axe doesn’t offend me (the Fiance wears one scent and I love it). Seriously? It is a commercial that is suppose to grab your attention and make an attempt at being funny. What about all the commercials on tv that paint men to be oafish and unable to accomplish anything until his wife/girlfriend/whatever lends a hand?

Double standards. Which is why I don’t pay attention to so called “offensive” things. The PC rules are ridiculous and annoying these days.

They are some of the dumbest commercials I have ever seen, but no, I don’t take them personally.  Why would i?

I don’t think I’ve seen the one you’re talking about, but in general I find the Axe commercials both stupid and mildly funny.  I don’t get offended easily, but can understand if others take offense.  But can I ask, do you get offended at commercials created by women that depict us as obsessed with shopping and other gender based stereotypes?

I think they’re funny in a stupid way. They’re marketed at men (last i checked we don’t buy Axe) and last i checked, a guy soaping up in the shower with Axe going “man i smell good!” isn’t really a good marketing technique

It’s not any worse than the Trojan commercial in which men without condoms are pigs….literally Tongue out
