Don’t have one from senior prom (which was totally different anway- red still, but off the shoulder, tea length, very 1940’s). But junior prom, circa 2001:
Red, gold glitter in a paisley pattern

THE dress! its mori lee 4524 (random google pic), dont have any of me yet, waiting on alterations, and its very similar! but im so glad someone posted about this! my senior prom dress is a mori lee too! it just randomly happened that way.. I was looking for BMs dresses (having already purchased my dress) and saw this one on display and REALLY liked it, so just for kicks and giggles I tried it on.. and didn’t want to take it off.. ended up ordering it, my mom made it easy by suggesting it (she later confessed that she didnt like my first dress!)

What a great post! Yes, my dress is by the same designer I also purchased my prom dresses and black tie/gala event dresses from. Her designs fit my body, taste and signature style 🙂

I never actually got to wear my prom dress :(. It still has the tags on it and is in my closet! My prom gown was ivory satin with black lace covering the entire thing, a-line and strapless. My wedding dress is completely different – no lace, has beading, white, with straps.

Haha what a great post! I’ve never thought about it, but my prom dress and my wedding gown do have similar qualities! I only have like 4 prom pictures because when my hihg school sweetheart and I broke up way back when, I deleted all of the photos of us from my photobucket haha! But here they are!
My prom dress. You can’t see it, but the hem line was just below my knee.
And this is my lovely gown.

this post is soooo awesome! i think my tastes have definitely changed a lot since my prom! I wore a long column dress with beading and bling all over it, and my wedding dress was wayyy simpler, only some beading/flower details on the side of the dress, and was only fittle through the high hip (slim a-line, but not quite a mermaid). amazing to see though that some people love what they love & know what they look and feel good in! you gals are gorgeous, then & now!

I never went to prom (or homecoming, or any other dance requiring a date!)

no way. I don’t have a photo of it, but my prom dress was goth!

not really. my junior prom gown was my mother’s junior prom gown 30 years earlier…yellow with white lacy pattern woven in and a green sash, sheath-style with a bateau neckline. (no pix of that one, sorry.) i suppose my senior prom gown had SOME things in common with my wedding gown…it was an A-line with a low-volume crinoline built in for just a little pouf, and had a very open (~4in from side to side) decorative corset for the top three inches or so of the back, and it was blue. well, it was close to the same shade of blue my dress is now, but had a sheer black overlay so it looked navy blue, and the overlay had little black velvet stars sprinkled down it (more of them at the bottom). it also had straps and was cut straight across. (yes, i’m wearing sneakers in that picture, lol. i was about to drive to my friend’s house and didn’t want to do it in my heels.)
holy CRAP i used to be skinny. anyway, while my wedding gown is technically “A-line”, it’s fitted through the hips, so it looks more like a fuller fit-and-flare. and while it’s also blue (the sample in the pic is silver), it’s a much, much lighter blue. and there’s no overlay, no straps, and while it technically also has a straight-across cut, there’s a slight sweetheart “dip” in it that’s accentuated by the drape of the fabric, so it’s not so harsh. as for the corset…yes it’s decorative but it’s also 100% functional, and it has a modesty panel. and i’m having the crinny removed and the skirt slimmed a bit, so it’s not so full. i do plan on cleaning and restringing the same crystal necklace to wear though.
so maybe it’s a little similar in cut, but not really beyond that. prom was 10 years ago for me, so that’s not surprising. my dress at my first wedding is completely unlike both prom dresses AND this gown.
