The idea of buying a dress that you wear one day have always irked me, so I set out dress shopping thinking that I would get something that I could dye so that I could make into a cocktail dress after the wedding. Well, I ended up with this dress – so that didn’t work:

However, the entire “Wear it one day” thing still annoys me. So, yesterday I got this idea – we’re flying out to Paris two days after the wedding. It will be my 30th birthday & the first leg of our honeymoon. We were talking about what we wanted to do our first night in Paris & both want to go to a dance club (we’ve been taking dance lessons for the last two months & love it). Fiance asked what I would wear & then it occurred to me, why not wear the dress again?! It will be perfect for foxtrot, rumba, swing or whatever we opt for! Fiance asked if it would feel weird to wear it again, as it’s not our wedding day anymore – but I just think it will be fun, like stretching the magic a little!
Anyone else that been wearing their dress after they got married? I’ve also decided to wear it for the reception we’ll have in Canada once we’re back from the wedding (DW in Sweden), but that’s mostly so that our friends here can see it in real life.

I love your dress!! I bought a tea length dress also. We’re going on a cruise for the honeymoon, and I plan on bringing my dress to wear for the fancy dinner night. And then once the last of my friends have gotten married, we plan to all wear our dresses for a silly night out or a photo shoot. You spend so much, why not wear it more if you can!

I felt this way too. I wanted to buy the dress of my dreams but I had a hard time justifying the money for just one day! My Fiance told me to get the dress because he was going to build a huge shadow box in our built in closet to display his suit and my dress! I loved this idea and am so excited I will be able to see my dress everyday rather than have it cleaned and shoved in a box for 50 years.

I will wear my dress after the ceremony to do a trash the dress shoot, then it’s going in the garbage. I don’t need any dust collectors! I’m having the most fun I can have with it, then I will say good-bye. I don’t see a need to hold on to it. I only want to get married once and I find trash the dress pictures to be beautiful!

@kandykane1: Thank you, I know it’s just a dress but I do love it!
@jellybean80: That’s such a great idea, I would definitely do that as well if we were going on a cruise! I’ve also been saying that I’ll put it on for our anniversaries – incentive to stay the size I’m now! ๐
@vorpalette: Just got this mental picture of you vacuuming wearing it! ๐

@vorpalette: After August 23rd, I’ll hope for photos! ๐
Ah, just came up with another time I’ll wear it – we will most likely do a free wedding photo shot with a local art college, so I’ll be wearing it then as well. Might as well take it out for a fancy dinner afterwards!

Does dancing around my house count? If so, yes, I have indeed worn my dress since the day. I’m still considering altering it to a cocktail dress, though. I should ptobably get on that.

If I saw you wearing this at a dance I would think “Wow. That dress is pretty enough to be a wedding dress!” Not “Why is that woman wearing a wedding dress?”. LOL I say go for it! It’s gorgeous and those with crazy long trains don’t get this opprotunity!
