Definitely hurts less the more often you go – but go like a week before your wedding – b/c for me at least my FH knows after waxing I am out of commission for like three days b/c it does get red & needs to heal a bit – and that has been everywhere I have gone & many other girls have told me that’s normal. But its worth it.

Re: European wax/hair schools:

I do NOT recommend this route. Yes, it’s cheaper. Yes, I tried it. My personal result: I had four (not one, but four) girls working on me. They were ALL learning. The ideal wax is with one friendly waxist who chats with you and takes your mind off the pain and the fact that you’re half naked. You do not want multiple students dinking around down there, figuring out the hard way that the wax is too hot and giggling about how they really don’t know what they’re doing. This was my very first wax, and yes, I did it because it was only 12 bucks, and it was one of the most painful experiences of my life! It lasted an hour and a half – not fifteen minutes, like it should. And in the end, I looked like I had mange because they couldn’t get all the hairs.

I know there are some hard-working students out there that know what they’re doing, but they have to learn (i.e., make mistakes) to get to that point! It is worth every additional penny to go to an experienced professional.

Whew. Just had to get that out there – that’s one bad memory, and I hope to save someone else the torment.

heheh–brazillian. hell yeah.

Only I’m on accutane and I can’t do it again until I am off. My own waxist says that I should put the checks that I get for my wedding towards laser hair removal. But I went to the place and said that they guarantee their work for two years unless you get pregnant which changes your hormones and hair follicles and it might come back then. So I don’t know anymore…

Great thread!

i had my first this summer… it was GREAT! the only thing is that i don’t like the appearance of being “bald”… i like how clean it feels everywhere else, but i think next time i’m going to have them leave a strip in front. i totally recommend getting it done!
