hi! new here, i’ve been with my lovely boyfriend almost a year. we live together and i’m planning to ask him to marry me on his birthday (nov 19). i’m 27 and he’s going to be 29. i have my grandma’s engagement ring that i’ll wear when we’re engaged, and i want to buy him a ring too!
wondering if anyone else here has proposed to their boyfriend and what it was like?

julianjd : I proposed to my boyfriend. I also got a ring for myself but I didn’t buy him one because I was pretty sure he wanted to pick it out himself. My boyfriend was really happy and excited but I had also sort of hinted a year or so earlier by asking if he’d care if I proposed. Congrats in advance!

I proposed to my fiance. I did it without a ring and then we picked out both of ours together (or rather I found a couple rings and asked him if he liked them). Then we went off to our separate computers and ordered them and added surprise engravings for eachother.

I was tired of waiting and decided to do it myself, but he beat me to it by one day (he proposed the day before his ring arrived!). I did counter-propose the next day, though!

I proposed too! It was spur of the moment, not planned at all. He said yes! Afterwards… we talked and he said it honestly took so much pressure off of him for it to be perfect and everything. Im glad I did it… or else I’d probably still be waiting for him to get the courage to do it!
Go for it! Throw tradition out the window and just ask him 🙂

My now SIL proposed to my BIL. It was awkward hearing tgeir engement story, not gonna lie. When she asked him he actually laughed and said NO WAY because he thought she was joking. She pulled out the ring, he laughed again and said “oh shit, okay!”
They’ve been happily married for 5 years now 😊
Throwing tradition out the window is great, and potential awkwardness aside i think any woman should go for it if its what she really wants.
Good luck bee 😁
