I am trying to change my last name of Facebook and it says I can’t change it as I have already changed my name too many times (they were just silly names to do for fun).
I have followed the instructions and emailed them a copy of my ID and I just used our record of marriage. I did some research and it looks like they may never get back to me about it.
Has anyone else had this happen? Were you eventually able to change it or did you have to make a new account (or just leave it as is)? I know you can add a alternative name as well but I would really like to change my last name to my new married name.
Thanks!

@CarterLove: I believe they warn you when you make a name change that you’re only allowed a certain number of changes. Since they give warning, you may be SOL. Best bet is to close the account and open a new one!

Thankfully it’s only FB and not real life. Phew!

@Future_Mrs_Dr_I: Yeah, I don’t remember ever seeing anything about a max # of changes. Although, they do change FB all the time lol. Thanks for your input!

Please note: You can only change your name 4 more times, so make sure to use your real name. Don’t add any unusual capitalization, punctuation, characters or random words.
This is right below the name fields, so you’re probably out of luck on this one if they don’t respond. Looks like you might just have to use the alternate name.

I had no idea this was a thing…I guess I’ve never changed my name since I joined and that was like 9-10 years ago.

@jny1179: Yeah, I know this now lol I was just curious if anyone else was in this situation and if they had any luck. I did not see anything about a max # of name changes when I changed it.
Thanks though!

@Ms_Purple: lol yeah, there’s usually no reason to change your name unless you get married etc. My name changes were just for fun but I guess after so many, Facebook gets suspicious.
