DH and I were fortunate enough to get tickets to see the show last night and it was spectacular! Trey Parker and Matt Stone are nothing but pure genius…I can see why they won 9 Tony Awards. We spent the whole show just howling with laughter!
My favorite musical number was “Spooky Mormon Hell Dream.”
Anyone else care to chime in?

I’m not a huge fan of South Park, but since I live in Colorado (and was lucky enough to score tickets), I felt it was an obligation to go. And, damn, was I happy I went. It was hysterical, “genius” (as you call it) and really made you realize that, hey, there are some more important things going on in the world than my little petty problems.

i have only listened to the soundtrack, and i think it’s just a little too crass for my taste. i totally see why other people love it, i just couldn’t stop feeling embarassed lol. i think Rent is at my comfort level. 😉 the music is so great though, i really wish i could get over my hangups about it.

Planning to see it this summer!

@Glasgowbound: We had to buy our tickets about 6-7 months in advance as well, but it’s worth the wait!
@jwdesiree: Amazeballs is about right. Lewd, crude, blasphemous, and utterly fantastic 🙂
@sleepyhead22: If you are easily embarassed I can see why that show may not be for you hahaha! I was a huge fan of Rent!
@Biandi: The theater we were in was completed sold-out (like all the other shows), but it’s a HUGE theater so it was loud when people were laughing! I was sitting next to this lady who was probably 75-ish years old and she was howling along with everyone else through the whole thing 🙂
@LadyBear: Have fun! You’ll love it 🙂

I am crossing my fingers that it will actually come to Salt Lake City!
I hear it could be this year, but we’ll see. My H is a huge South Park fan.

FI got us tix for Christmas last year. It was absolutly amazing! Loved it so much!

It was funny, I guess, but frankly I liked Avenue Q MUCH more. Coming from the creators of Avenue Q teamed up with the creators of South Park, I was expecting it to be MUCH more offensive (in a good funny way), and was looking for more “OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY JUST SAID THAT” moments, and I really didn’t have any. I wanted more crass coming from this team, and it just didn’t do it for me. It was good. But it wasn’t “wait 6 months and pay twice what you pay to see other Bway shows” good, imho.

i want to see it so bad! tickets are so expensive though 🙁 they are going to be in town on my birthday so maybe i will get lucky and get tickets!

I wish it came up to Canada where I live! I’d see it in a heartbeat, I love South Park.

We saw it on Broadway and thought it was hysterical!! Josh Gad was just hilarious as the bumbling Elder Cunningham. We got tickets from a business associate of DH’s who is able to get the hookup on hard-to-find tickets in NYC and though it was expensive, it was definitely worth it.
I’d love to see it again–the whole thing goes by so fast, and everyone in the theater is laughing so much, I’m sure we missed some comedy gold.

@sienna76: Do you think the LDS church would raise a stink if they came to SLC?
@koi424: Me too!
@BookishBelle: I am a HUGE Avenue Q fan as well but I can understand your minor criticism with the content. I was expecting it to be a little crasser as well, but I was actually really pleased with the balance.
@mrs_brownie: I feel you on the ticket prices. I think we dropped just north of $300 on two tickets!
@Pinkmoon: Are they not doing any Canadian stops? That’s a bummer!
@Pomapoo: I’d love to see it again as well. There were so many small things that I noticed, and I can’t help but think I must have missed a bunch! I’d see it again in a heartbeat if it were possible to get tickets.

@Glasgowbound: This thread has taught me that BOM is coming to DC this summer!! Thank you x 1,000,000! I know what DH is getting for his anniversary present 🙂

@MrsCarnival: The LDS Church has actually come out and embraced the show!
I’m *hoping* to get tickets when it comes to Columbus. Just depends on if I have the funds!
