i am so frickin sick to death of cell phones, facebook, twitter, all this social crap. (except for this forum of course, id die without it)
u pay thousands of dollars a year to phone companies for service and phones themselves, they break, and companies refuse to stand behind their product tell u oh theres nothing we can do, thats normal wear and tear, just gotta buy a new one for $500. that the phone is not their responsibility, its the manufacturers. the batteries dont even last three hours nowdays…
anybody just totally give up cell phone service lately? anybody just cancel their contract, pay the early term fee and just go without? or get some old school phone and not pay for texting, internet etc? i mean we lived for hundreds of years without so y is it that we would die without them now?
i gotta go to tmobile today about my broken charge port and i swear to allah if they give me one ounce of resistance i will tell them to shove this crap up their ass and cancel my service.
businesses trying to make more money by making crappier products and not replacing it when it breaks. i am getting tired of the greed and the world being this way lately! i almost cant handle it!

Well, I’m pretty sure cellphones are here to stay until something replaces them, the same way landline phones were a necessity for years and years.
Are you from Canada? We really get raped by mobile phone companies here. I hear it’s much more reasonable for the rest of the world.
I think the trick with cell phone companies is to avoid 3 year contracts. I find that most phones break or at least start becoming faulty a little after the 2 year mark (with moderate to high use. Obviously if you rarely use it it will last longer)!

I am more pissed about all the hidden charges. Charge for this…charge for that…take away unlimited data, but charge more for less. Awful.

@coffeegal85: Just FYI, when you sign a contract with a cell phone company, both you AND the company you signed with is bound to that contract. If they suddenly tell you that the cost of, say, long distance has gone up and raise the cost on your contract THAT IS ILLEGAL (no, it doesn’t matter if they put “we can raise the prices at anytime” in small print at the bottom. That is not how contracts work). My husband got in a dispute with Telus for that exact issue and won. Cell phone companies manage to pull that off all the time though because people do not know their rights.

I switched to Straight Talk for cell service. It’s great as long as absolutely NOTHING goes wrong. If it does, it is customer “service” hell. I’ve always gotten my complaints resolved… two hours later… but I’m only paying $360/year for all the minutes and texting I need, so I just suck it up and deal with it. But yes, I hate it, and technology in general, and then I hate that I’ve become so reliant on it.

I had such problems with T-Mobile… Get Rid of Them! What I find interesting about facebook is that people are on it to “find their old friends.” I’m sorry, but if you ARE my friend, you are already IN MY LIFE.. I shouldn’t have to go hunting you down!

AT&T has gone downhill in my area the last few months (well longer than that but its WORSE THAN EVER)!! I drop calls like crazy, dont get half my incoming calls (or even notified of missed calls), etc! I have called them and they told me months ago they are building a new tower in September! Then why is my service so CRAPPY NOW?!?!?!
I want to switch providers but have no clue who to switch to! I love my iphone but its WORTHLESS when you cant even make or accept a call 3 of 4 times!

@DeathByDesign: They get you when its time to sign a new contract. And if you don’t sign a new contract, your phone costs a riduculous amount of money – $500+ for an iphone, instead of $200 with a new contract. Ugh. And when you go to sign a new contract, there are all these other fees that weren’t part of your previous contract.

^ I am on the phone with AT&T and they are telling me that rebooting my phone will fix all the issues yet I reboot once or twice a week as is hoping it will fix their CRAPPY SERVICE!
I called in Sept complaining and they said it would be fixed with a new tower going up…HOWEVER, it has absolutely gotten worse and now I drop 3 of 4 calls EVERYTIME at my house although it shows I have 4 bars of service.
Sad that AT&T will not back their service and or their part of my contract as I am not getting the SERVICE I pay for. If I wanted to carry a brick around and pretend to talk on it..I would rather than pay $155 a month for two iphone “bricks” that do not work 90% of the time! GRR! LOL

I’ve always had good luck getting these companies to fix a phone if the problem wasn’t my fault. They usually fix glitches, and always do if the phone is under warranty. Obviously if I dropped the phone in the sink, that’s my fault and cost to me but otherwise, I’ve found they usually fix things.
I agree the hidden fees are what get you!
Good luck fixing your phone OP!

if batteries aren’t lasting past three hours on a new phone, it is defective. I work for a cellphone manufacturer, and regular phone batteries should be lasting a day if not just over.

I recently left Tmobile for Verizon then a month later left Verizon for Virgin Mobile (month to month cancel anytime no contract LG smart phone)… I’m finally happy now! $35 a month for unlimited internet unlimited text and 300 minutes. The phone was $50 and it works great, the touch screen and internet are faster than both my Verizon and Tmobile phones… imagine that.
I was thinking about getting the newest 4g phone from Virgin (anyone have VM and just love one phone in particular? I can’t decide what to get but I know I don’t want the iPhone)

We have Sprint and HTC phones and have never had problems.

@DeathByDesign: im right smack in the middle of the US in a major metropolitan area. we have 2 yr contracts here mostly, and i understand what u say about the phones becoming defective about halfway in. which means about the 1 yr mark for me. which is exactly where i am at in my contract right now.
also, when u say that we dont know our rights, that is definitely true! but even if we did, we have no means by which to enforce our rights without hiring an attorney, and im too scared of lawyer fees to do that, so hence, another reason we feel helpless to defend ourselves.
