StephieBee:  I agree.  New roll outs take a long time, it’s just the nature of technology.  We’ve had several system changes and roll outs at my work and it always takes quite a while for all the bumps to be ironed out.  A feature that we might think is a simple fix might actually take a long time to do without screwing up other stuff.  So I’m just giving it time.  I’m still enjoying being on the bee even if it takes an extra minute to navigate.

um…I just learned you can’t copy/paste into the comment box. THAT is annoying. Yes, I’m fed up with the new WB still, to answer your question

spiffykirshay:  I totally agree. The old site wasn’t perfect- I occasionally ad a problem with it- but it was WAY better than this one. I don’t understand the rationale for the new one. The old one was much better!

Sure some of the bugs and things are annoying.. but come on some people are acting like the world is ending.

Kit_Kath:  Yeah, I think people just do not realize that at all. Things take time, and they’re never going to be perfect at first — even if they used testers.

It’s not the bugs that piss people off though – I can live with bugs, know they will happen, and know they will get ironed out.

It’s the fact that they intentionally left off incredibly useful functions (such as the OP box, going straight to the reply via PM, etc). That was a dumbass decision through and through. One or two functions can slip through the cracks, sure – but there are TONS of items people had requested for years, finally got implemented, and are now gone. This stupid update shouldn’t have happened until these features were included.

StephieBee:  The more I use the site the more I just can’t understand why they felt the need for such drastic change in the first place. I don’t think that this design is inherently more appealing than the old, in fact it always kind of looks like it isn’t quite loaded and it isn’t any faster, I in fact find it much slower to load. These observations coupled with the removal of many features just has me going – why?!

I understand that they are more likely working in bringing back those features but it was bad form to launch the update without them (or at least a few more of them) in place. Otherwise we have just stepped backwards only in order to gain a white background and an ever so slightly more friendly mobile site (no page number navigation or “last page” button on the mobile site was a vast over site).

I’m sure that from their end the coding is now up to date and much more user friendly, but I still think they launched it prematurely and didn’t nesserarily need to make such big changes on the users’ end.

I still like the helpful button though.

Yeah it gets annoying. First world problem for sure though so I’m not actually angry about it. Some things they’ve done are just dumb (no first page/last page navigation, no quick navigation to sub boards, etc), but I’m not sure why people have an issue with the white background? Most sites I use have a white background.

StephieBee:  Some people just don’t realize that it’s not the bugs that are so annoying. It’s the conscious decision not to include certain features that Bees had requested and waited for on the old site.

BeeG35:  Exactly! Its pretty ridiculous to me that even thought 95% of us hate it, they still wont change it back. Really shows how much the mods (or whoever) don’t care about what we think. Its pretty bullshitty of them.

I can no longer access the Ideas and Support pages… The links are gone!  Anyone else?  Or anyone else have a link to those pages they could post for me?

There have been other posts about not being able to see the Ideas and Support Boards. basically the response was, use IE. Someone else said make sure your screen is maximized.

I found that if I used Ctrl and the minus key, it shrank the page so it was all visible.

Yeah, I actually haven’t been on here in a few days. I usually come on at least once or twice a day for an hour or so, but I’ve pretty much been avoiding it since the change.

julies1949:  I am confident that they’ll address that stuff too. Maybe I’m too optimistic 😛
