ohdarling :  I got used to it pretty quickly, but funnily enough a few years after the wedding I refinanced my house. Since I never changed the deed to my married name I had to sign everything with both my new and old signatures – the old one felt weird by that point!

My maiden signature is so basic, literally just my first inital with a fancy line after it lol. So I guess I don’t even really have to change it, but I have been practicing, just in case!

Agreeing with PP complaining about having to come up with a fancy capital F. I love my SO’s last name but never considered that it’s basically my capital J (the start of my first name) with a line through it! So I’m having to workshop that a little to get ready for the switch after the wedding.

Oh gosh, yeah. I went from a shorter last name starting with L to a long last name starting with G. HOW THE HECK DO G’S WORK? It’s been a struggle to say the least, lol. I’ve been lately just doing some crazy loopy G, and then a squiggle. HAH!

I’m not planning on changing my name, but just the other day I decided to see what it would look like when I tried to sign fiance’s name….it solidified my choice to not change it.

Haha! I feel you! I actually haven’t legally changed my name yet, so I am still signing my old name (cannot sign documents until my signature line is updated, which can’t be done until my name is legally changed), but everything else is in my new name! Name plate, badge, etc. And a lot of my coworkers are adding my new name to documents! So I have to cross it out, initial and date and then sign my maiden name! It has been such a pain! Plus my new name is really hard to sign, so I need to practice before I officially change it!

I sign anywhere from 1-30 things per day for work, so not gonna lie…this was the nail in the coffin for me keeping my maiden name and adding his last name. I can just use my current signature and keep going one more name!

Yes! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally just signed with my old signature.

Luckily, after working in public health for a long time, my “signature” looks more like a sloppy @ symbol than anything because for years I’ve always just signed with my initials and a swirl (public health meant signing a LOT of things all day, every day). So, no one can tell what the last name is anyway.

I do want to practice a new signature, though, and get out of that habit….eventually haha.
