I’ve worn contacts for the last 14 years but in the last six months my eyes have been extremely dry.
I went to the eye doctor back in March and he gave me a steriod drop to use that helped. I went back to wearing contacts but the same problems came up again a few years ago.
After another round of the steriod drops my eye doctor said they didn’t help as much as he hoped. Basically, he thinks I’ll always continue to have dry eye. I’m now on another prescription drop and he recommended taking omega 3, as that’s been known to help some.
He also thinks I need to cut down on my contact wear, maybe eight or nine hours a day max, and not every day. I’m afraid eventually I won’t be able to wear contacts at all.

Yeah my Fiance is currently going through this exact same problem. The doctors told him that he had a scratched cornea which is a result of dry eyes and and wearing contacts often. They gave him some sort of “plug” to keep them moist but they didnt really work. So basically he had to get glasses and now only wears contacts when he goes to the gym and on the weekends. It’s not much more you can do about it though from what the doctors have been telling him. Apart from the steroid drops and Systane drops (OTC)

My doctor mentioned the plugs but that didn’t seem like a good option to me. I’ve also always wanted to get Lasik but I was told you won’t qualify for the surgery if you have dry eyes because it hinders the healing process.

So he went to the cornea specialist today and they diagnosed him with Thygeson’s and thhey gave him a new drop that supposedly fights it.

When I got LASIK I had dry eye for a good while after (in the morning or rooms with crazy ventilation)
I used refresh tears but the thick one .. I think it is Refresh Ultra?! it worked for me … every once in a WHILE I have some dry eye but I just splash in some drops

i suffer from super wet eyes. i’m always tearing. i wasn’t the ideal candidate for lasik but i went ahead and did it and got really great results. many of my coworkers got the punctal plugs put in when they had lasik. i know serveral people who are very happy with them.
