I don’t post much but I’m going to start because I go to weddingbee about 5 times a day when I think of a question or need advice. I just search my questions and my answer/advice always shows up!
My current issue is my dress, I’ve been engaged since Oct 2012 and I’m getting married October 13th, 2013. I still can’t find a dress! I must have tried on 50 dresses, I only had strong likable feelings (maybe even love) for one dress (allure 8856) but my mother disagreed and her opinion matters to me.
I’m looking for something around $1000 and I just can’t find anything. I’m growing worried and scared…having nightmares about my wedding day and not liking how I look.
Please please tell me this is normal.
I have an appointment tomorrow and another next wednesday. Wish me luck. I’ve been praying so much.

I am in the same boat except my wedding is August 25th! With current ordering times for the designers I am loving – I’m looking at getting my dress the first week of August – leaving just a couple weeks for alterations and last minute freak outs. Very scary.
I have an appointment today and I NEED to find something to love this week or else I’ll have to consider a sample, a used dress or something off the rack.
Got VERY close to ordering one, twice now – and I’m bouncing all over the place with silhouettes, material… I’m a directionless blob. The only thing I have discovered is that I LOVE shopping solo! But maybe I wouldn’t if my mom lived in the same state!
Good luck to you! Don’t stress so much just yet – you still have time. Have you pinned down a material or silhouette at all? Or a “absolutely not” list (like no tulle, pickups, sleeveless, etc.)? If not, try making these lists and writing them out… or look at dresses you have “liked” and pick out what you do love/don’t love about them – it might help you come up with a more solid direction.

@sarahbeth_: I think it’s perfectly normal to take a bit longer to find a dress. I waited too long and had to select from samples (procrastination issues), but the truth is, we’re inundated with way too many choices and it can get overwhelming.
I like the suggestion above to pinpoint what you want/don’t want in a dress and try to go that direction. Since your mom’s opinion is important to you, it may be worth a shot sitting down with her and coming up with the list together. Did she tell you what it was about the Allure you mentioned that she didn’t like? It might help you to know what her vision is and combine it with what you want.
Best of luck!

@sarahbeth_: Did you pick your dress?! Couldn’t help but see that the only dress you were interested in was the Allure 8856. Well if I could provide any support or reassurance, just know that I’m an Allure 8856 bride, and I’m absolutely in love with my dress. My parents and Future Mother-In-Law loved it as well. Maybe the dress your mother saw was in a different color? This dress is split into 2 pieces, so the color you pick of the charmeuse slip and lace covering makes quite a difference. Anyway just offering my support. Whatever dress you pick, I know you’ll look beautiful 🙂

I am going first time dress shopping in a couple weeks, but I am fully planning on taking forever to find a dress! I am very picky, so I know even if I find one I LOVE, I will still think there is something better out there lol. I actually think it is wise to take your time picking out a dress. That way you don’t make any rash decisions!

@CaliBeeBride0813: Gorgeous dress, right? I’m sure you look and feel amazing in it, I know the feeling 🙂 It could have been the color my mom didn’t like as it was a champaigne or something color. My mom wants me in a whiter shade. However, we’ve moved passed it….I know I can find something we both agree on. There is another dress I tried on and loved. It’s two pieces like the Allure and very lightweight. I’m taking my mom today to see it. I think she’ll love the capped sleeves. fingerscrossedxxx

@shrubfish09: I havent found mine yet but I have narrowed it down to what I do like. I know exactly what kind of dress I want so I’m almost there! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!! I wish you lots of luck. Have fun with it and be open minded.
