I don’t like being the center of attention (hard to avoid on wedding day), but thinking about cutting the cake- people taking pictures of us eating? Am I the only one who thinks it is weird? Has anyone skipped this? How did it go?

we kind of skipped it. Meaning we didn’t announce it, we did it in the corner by the band, the only people who watched at all were our parents…I agree with you, I never got the whole “cutting the cake” thing….so most people probably think we skipped it and it was perfectly fine!

I have the same problem. I have anxiety thinking about everyone watching us do everything on that day. Yikes! We’ll probably do the cake cutting but I don’t think its a must. I went to a wedding in June and they didn’t do it, no one noticed until the drive home! Lol. I’m sure you’re fine scrapping it. One less attention grabber? I’m all for it! Hahaha
PS. We’re definitely not doing the garter or bouquet toss, I find that its more uncomfortable for participants and guests than is necessary lol.

I think you can do or skip whatever you want 🙂 I have no problem with the cutting the cake thing… (although really what is the symbolism there?) but I really HATE the whole bouquet toss/garter thing. The idea of it just makes me really uncomfortable (really? My new hubs’ head up under my skirt in front of grandma? not cool). So I’m totally skipping those!

We are skipping the garter and bouquet tosses as well. We are having a traditional Catholic wedding, and most of our guests are used to all the traditions- we are doing toasts, and a first dance. No father/daughter dance because my FI’s mom is deceased.

We skipped it and just had the caterer cut it and serve the traditional wedding cake (which was small). Nobody seemed to miss it and not a single guest mentioned it. We also skipped the garter and bouquet toss.

I am not sure how I feel about actually eating it … and cutting it ourselves. I wish I could just have a slice brought to me =) Lol. I do have a special cake knife and I am making a big huge deal out of the cake … it’s my dream cake. So it’s so special to me. I kind of am excited … but I’ve never cut a cake … I don’t know how to even do it.
We even have a cake cutting song =)haha

I went to a wedding where they didn’t cut the cake. No one missed it. One less thing to stop the party for.
