Anyone else try on a lot of dresses before choosing one?

I went to about 5 places, and got through about 10-12 dresses at each one…so give or take about 55 dresses in all…and yes, it was exhausting and frustrating! I felt like they would all be “fine”, but “fine” isn’t really what you’re looking for in a wedding dress. I got really quick at judging whether a dress was an instant nope before I even walked out to show people, and that made it easier to go through a lot of options in each appointment. I even came close to just doing a custom dress from Essence of Australia, who would piece together bits and pieces that I liked from three or four of their dresses (what a nightmare that could’ve been! I really admire any bride who has the guts to order something without ever really seeing it in person!!)

At my fifth store, I tried on my dress and my mom gasped because she said for the first time I came out with a huge smile on my face and I was wearing it like I already owned it. I tried on a bunch more, but I kept wanting to put my dress back on, and it had this detailing under the lace that I knew I would keep thinking about if I didn’t buy it. I didn’t have any real crying moments, it was more like a nice, relieved “ahh there it is”.

I went to 3 places and tried on several dresses at each, but was unable to make a decision.  There were two dresses my mom and bridesmaids were trying to push me to get, but deep down I felt like they weren’t what I wanted.  The two that I liked everyone else convinced me not to get.  Then one day I went into a store alone one day really frustrated and upset and I ended up finding exactly what I wanted on their secret clearance rack in exactly my size.  I wouldn’t say it was some magical moment that happened or whatever people say, but as soon as I saw the dress I knew that I wanted it and as soon as I tried it on and looked at the price I knew there was no way I was going to pick anything else.

I totally have zero regrets about it.  I totally showed my husband pics of all of the reject dresses after the wedding was over, and the one I chose by far was his favorite.  The only other two he even liked were actually the two I liked that everyone else hated!  So funny!

I tried on almost 100 (I know, I know, you’re judging me and its fine). I was convinced I wanted a mermaid but couldn’t find one that was dramatic enough. I went from store to store by myself (only trying on mermaids) and eventually decided to take a break from shopping.

I ended up with a ballgown, it was the first dress I tried at the last store I went to. And I’m OBSESSED, I look at pictures of it every day lol. My advice is to take a little break if your frustrated but keep looking. You don’t want to have regrets or end up buying a second dress down the line. Also, be open minded to trying on new styles, I was dead set on a beaded mermaid but found and fell in love with the complete opposite. Although not every bride cries when they find the one, you should be excited to wear the dress on your day, if you haven’t had that feeling yet don’t feel pressured to commit.

Yep. I tried on, ballpark number, 30. I even tried on more dresses after finding the one just to be sure and then went back and bought it. In major purchases, I have to do a lot of research and see whats out there otherwise I will second guess if there was something better but I just didn’t know/see it. Obviously that has a limit but don’t let sales people push you around. I felt like some of them were annoyed because I didn’t have the “I’m buying my dress TODAY” vibe.
