@MUAbride2be:  I am in a similar situation to yours right now. When I moved into my SO’s place last summer, I totally overhauled his eating habits and started him on a fitness plan (just walking 1 hour a day but that was still way more than he did prior to my moving in). I’ve always been heavy weight-wise so even if I am living clean and exercising, I still look “bigger.” However, after I made a few key changes in my SO’s diet, he dropped the weight and looks younger now. I had a hard time maintaining my weight b/c I was working FT while enrolled in grad school PT, hence I actually started GAINING. While he does look so much better thinner, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t annoyed when people would comment on his weight loss (I wanted to be like, “Dude, he stopped getting drunk off 20 beers and eating Little Caesar’s pizza – THAT’S IT!!!” but I kept my cool) while I seemed to get fatter just b/c walking wasn’t enough for me.

Honestly, people are going to be dumbasses with their “compliments” – you can’t really stop that. However, what you can do is use it as ammo/drive to work harder. For instance, I always do an extra lap when running with the SO and then do calisthenics. EVen schedule in a solo workout session. Sadly, the female metabolism SUCKS so you have to give it an extra push. Plus, you could end up in better shape than your SO. 😉

Unfortunately for us, men drop weight a lot quicker than women. Darling Husband & I are both healthy eaters, but when we go on vacation we let loose a little. I will usually gain weight and he will continue to lose weight (even though he eats double what I do).

People will start to notice your weight loss soon. I had 50 pounds to lose, I have lost 35 to date and it has just been recently people have started complimenting me.

Good job on the weight loss – keep going and you will get there.

@MUAbride2be:  Awww, I’m so sorry! The female body does suck in this aspect! My Fiance lost about 20lbs JUST by cutting out soda and drinking 3 liters of water a day. Super frustrating when I am kicking my ass at the gym and eating very low carb! AND I have only ever drank water and hot, unsweet tea!!

Keep going lady!! Are you tall by chance? I’ve lost about 30lbs since last year and no one noticed until i hit around the 25lb mark because I’m taller and the weight isnt as noticeable in smaller increments. I have 30 more pounds to lose and its coming off faster now that I am really more dedicated. My Fiance has stalled in his attempts as of late so I have been getting more compliments! 🙂 Hehee

We’re trying to lose a little together, but it’s not that significant, so nobody’s really saying anything to either of us. Agreed with others… unfortunately we have to work harder than our guys to get and keep pounds off, but just try to keep motivation internal. You’re doing awesome, keep up the good work, don’t let anything stop you from looking how YOU wanna look! ‘Cause that’s what it’s really about, satisfying yourself and getting YOUR dream body, not anyone else’s.

@MUAbride2be:  Congrats on the weightloss!

Fiance and I are both trying to lose weight.

I have been killing myself dieting and exercising, and got super excited to lose 1kg.

He has been eating biscuits smeared with nutella and doing jackshit and lost 3 kgs.

I swear men just have to say the word diet and the weight just drops off. SO FRUSTRATING.

I have been working out and trying to eat better for a little bit now. It’s done nothing so far. I did lose 5ibs recently but that was due to being so sick that I could keep any food down. The other day my fiancé told me he’s lost 7lbs just from eating smaller portions. Wth?! I haven’t noticed a change in his eating habits at all but somehow he’s lost 7lbs. Men have it so easy sometimes.

I will be able to relate soon!  We are starting a 30-day challenge through his gym on Saturday.

My problem will probably be less with others and more between us.

Right now he already weighs less than me, but wants to “shed the extra body fat” (what you’re pinching is called skin, dear), and last time he did this challenge he looked really thin and people kept commenting.  Even if I lose the max I can, honestly I will look about the same.  It won’t be really noticeable until the next 10.  To make it worse, I’m injured and commuting really far until we buy a house, so working out is…challenging.  Not looking forward to his inevitable “Ugh I’m TOO thin” comments from him and people asking us if he’s sick, whereas I’m pretty much the same.  And I’m hoping he doesn’t judge my weight loss by his own yardstick.  :-/

@MUAbride2be:  *HUG* I’m not there yet, but I’m about to be. When we move in together, my Boyfriend or Best Friend and I have planned to work on eating healthy and working out together. His father is going to pay for us both to have personal trainers as a graduation gift/stipulation for us living together (lol). And I KNOW he’s going to lose faster and more obviously than me.

Hopefully nobody’s as tactless as your “friends” but I’m expecting to watch him progress faster than me because I’m on a couple of medications that make weight loss stubborn and well, I’m a woman so we’re just predetermined not to lose as quickly as men.

Just keep at it. You’re doing great and shouldn’t let others’ nasty/idiotic coments get you down so much. Take a moment to feel your hurt because it’s a valid feeling, then use it in your next workout. I save all my anger for my workouts and it helps soooo much.
