I thought they were all Elsa and Anna this year.  No?  We don’t get trick or treaters anymore   Our road is way too creepy looking.

Yes! I’ve noticed this too. Where are all the great costumes from when we were kids? Everything looks cheap and it seems like kids are either a licensed character or some weird generic skeleton tutu girl.

Not really, I’ve been able to identify almost every costume so far. I’ve seen a lot of ninja turtles, storm trooper, zombies and Elsa’s so far.

I’m not sure what you were wearing as a kid but remember these vividly and let me assure you they did not last the night.  I think costumes have greatly improved.

ClaudiaKishi:  LOL, we had at least five or six of the “weird generic skeleton tutu girls” come by tonight, and the rest were either some type of zombie, some type of generic Gothic princess in black & purple or black & crimson fake velvet dresses with long fringed sleeves and head pieces, or plain black robes with white painted faces and dark circles around the eyes. The only readily identifiable costumes we saw were several Batman getups, a few ninjas, a few Elsas, and a really pretty and very detailed tiger costume with awesome makeup on a girl of about 6.

I wonder what the deal is with the skeleton tutu girl thing?

My 11 year old was a frog, my 8 year old was a zombie police officer, and my 5 year old was a zombie swat officer 😂😂 we had to turn my 8 year olds costume less sexy and more creepy because that’s what she wanted. My 5 year old son wanted to be scary too. My 11 year old just does whatever she wants.

ETA: my frog was apparently the hardest to tell what she was, everyone kept asking her. Didn’t help that her hood kept falling down lol

We only had a handful we couldn’t place. Lots of robots and a lot of power rangers.

Atalanta:  I was wearing the Ninja Turtle version of that, haha. Or something homemade. But at least I was SOMETHING, haha. It just seems like kids are these weird generic things. Like a skeleton with a tutu and weird arm warmers or like another poster said, those velvet dresses with fluttery sleeves.

ClaudiaKishi:  A skeleton is a thing, so what if it has a tutu?  I don’t know what velvety dresses you mean, do you have a pic?

But I’m not too bothered by less creative costumes, growing up, mine wern’t all that.  Now grownups without costumes pushing a param around gathering candy “for an infant” who obviously isn’t going to eat it….well at least I didn’t have many trick or treaters so I was glad to get rid of the candy.

I thought this girl was dressed as Rainbow Brite at the gas station. She swung around and rudely said, “I am unicorn poop, duh.”

I about died lol.

lim3:  seems like this is a classic case of “my chidhood was so much better…”  I bet the people who gave you candy for your hobo costumbe were like “really? some ratty clothing a bag on a stick and some black face paint, when I was a kid..” and the cycle continues.

Face it, we had cheap costumes, they have cheap costumes, it’s all relative.  Plus people are awefully afraid of being non-PC so they would rather go as nothing than something casue like you said your costume would be a big no no these days.
