We’re getting married at a beautiful, traditional chapel and then we’re having our reception 10 minutes away at a community center in my neighborhood. When you first walk in, there’s a front desk and a bunch of windows where you can see the gym and a kid’s play area. But then when you walk down the hallway, there’s a large meeting room and that’s where I’m having my reception. It’s a really nice room, with a huge full length window that leads out to a covered patio with tables and a large, beautiful garden outside that’ll be great for wedding photos. Inside of the room, we’re going to have a dance floor, a sound system and a bunch of round tables for the guests to eat at. I’m planning on going crazy with decorating…I want to find beautiful seat covers, table cloths, centerpeices, picture tables, maybe a “candy bar”, things like that. It’s going to be under $1,000 to rent the room and the dance floor/sound system for 9 hours, so it’s a pretty good deal.
I’m curious, is anyone else having their reception at a non-traditional venue? How are you planning on decorating it?

That sounds like it will be a great place for your reception!
I don’t really know if our location is non-traditional, but we will be the first wedding that will be taking place there. We’re getting married in a theatre that my fiance is helping to rennovate. There has been a lot done to it since this picture was taken last year. The chairs, floors, and walls have been painted, there is now additional area for seating up by where you enter the theatre, and a lot of other cosmetic work. I can’t wait!
This is a more recent picture. He hung these lights up a few weeks ago and it looks INCREDIBLE in person

@brideonabudgetlauren That is so cool! I absolutely love the lights. That gave me an idea to possibly put some twinkle lights at our place. 🙂

@Emily_Joy: It’s amazing what a difference lights can make! We are going to be stringing lights vertically for a back drop on the stage. Make sure to post pictures once you get them!!

I still have to give a call this week but this is the place I would like to have my ceremony / reception. It’s the party room at an Irish pub near by. It was a bank before and they actually built and brought over the pub from Ireland. Downstairs in the the pub area is really neat they even have a booth in the old vault. Crossing my fingers they Can accommodate a ceremony and a gust list of 20.

- Wedding: June 2017 - Vegas Wedings
We almost booked a local bourbon distillery. A friend of mine actually went to a wedding there this past Sunday and had OK reviews. Looks like we’re doing a hotel (Marriott) wedding package which is traditional but not very typical right now.

@ingeborgslilly: Very pretty! What a great location!!
@Beautiful Bluegrass-The bourbon distillery would have been neat! But I guess if it just just OK reviews it’s best to go with the Marriott. At least then you know you’ll have less bumps in the road!
Fiance and one of our groomsmen finished putting up the rest of the lights last night!
