The Lucien gown is so pretty! I am wearing Helena which is also discontinued. I got it at a sample sale. I absolutely love Claire Pettibone dresses! Congratulations on finding such a great dress!

Wow. I wouldn’t let myself go in the store because I love it and I didn’t want to ask my parents to buy it for me (they insisted on paying which puts me in a certain price range). I love her stuff. She influences so many other designers. My bridesmaid said my dress looked like a claire pettibone so that made me happy.

You lucky lucky women. I am so happy that you are wearing one of the best designers out there!

Grr! Too expensive for me, but I am in love with her designs….anyone who can afford to wear her is so lucky…if anyone wants to sell me theirs when they are done we should discuss this!! I love the Lavinia!

I’m one of those lucky girls who gets to wear a Pettibone! Mine is Kristene, the first dress she ever designed. I know there is another bride on the boards who is wearing the Rosa.

EEEEEK, I AM TOO!!! I didn’t think hardly anyone had heard of her but I am SOOO obsessed with my dress! It’s the Fontaine and it’s still up on the website so I don’t think it’s being discontinued…I got mine at a sample sale at Kleinfelds and it was about 1/4 of the original price…granted, it’s ginormous on me so I have some serious alterations to do but so worth it! Esp since it’s flowy, empire waist style so it’s not like it has to fit me like a glove, just be taken in and hemmed…I tried on close to 40 dresses at 5 different stores over the course of two months and when I put this one on, I had a flash and saw myself walking down the aisle and KNEW it was the one…The worst part is I only get to wear it once!

@goldenbear – I just looked up the Lucien and WOW is that gown ever amazing! I love that she has so many different ‘types’ of gowns, yet they all somehow remain within the same vein. How are you planning on doing your hair, by the way?

Rungirl, that is also a beautiful dress! I love the sleeves! I know what you mean about only getting to wear it once. I would wear mine everyday if I could!

The funny thing about my dress is I think it can be shortened. In her newest Rock n’ Roll collection she has a dress that looks very similar to mine (lace and all) but it stops at about knee length. Maybe I’ll get it shortened so I can wear it after the wedding (who knows where).

I’m wearing a Claire Pettibone dress I bought as a sample. It’s her Lalique dress–I’m making some significant alterations (lowering the back to a V and adding tulle straps similar to those on Cloissone) and removing the tulle train and optional fabric flowers. Super excited about it. Of course, all of her dresses are gorgeous!

i adore Claire Pettibone designes, unfortunately i live outside the US and its impossible to get her gowns 🙁

can a Claire P bride who has tried the Lavinia gown let me know how it fits? is it very heavy… would it flatter a petite shape? I love it, the way it drapes and the beautiful train. However some of the detailing looks quite "heavy". I’m size 0 and will be 5’8.5 in my wedding shoes.

 thanks in advance!

@kitten- I think her dresses are perfect for petite figures-they are soft, light, and dreamy.  I’m 5’2 100lbs and ALL of the Pettibone dresses I tried on made me look like I was actually wearing the dress and not the other way around-even the ones with lots of detail. I didn’t even look at another designer after I saw her. They are perfect for small people-perfect for anyone… but I know how you feel about beading and such.
