I’m starting to feel like the only bride who didn’t want an engagement ring…I did end up with a set of sapphire solitaires so I guess I’m not totally nontradtional. I get so many confused questions about where my ring is that I’m wondering how unusual I really am. My sister didn’t want an engagement ring either, and neither did a friend of mine so I didn’t think it was that weird. I told my FH I wouldn’t wear a ring until he does (on our wedding day)…though he already knew I wasn’t a ring girl so it wasn’t really an issue.
Anyone else go ringless?

I’m only having one ring – so I’m not sure if it’s an engagement or wedding, it’s just a ring – and it won’t even look like either – I’m looking for pink saphire instead of a diamond. I’m not into rings either. I’m ringless for now – but head strong in the planning.

I only have an engagement ring, no wedding ring. My ring was detailed enough that I couldn’t imagine putting another ring with it (no ring would’ve sat flush, anyhow), and I wanted to leave my other hand free for some of the other rings I like to wear.

Sort of. We both got rings and plan on using them as wedding rings as well.

I got my engagement ring 10 months after the proposal. I didn’t mind the wait because I understood the circumstances, plus the anticipation was a little fun, I must admit!

I have a ring (with a sapphire) but a friend of mine did not get one. They also don’t have wedding bands, though they do plan on buying some. They used family rings for the ceremony and haven’t picked their own rings yet.

Nope, no ring here either. I told my Fiance that I didn’t want a diamond (for many reasons, environmental, social, economic, and plain just wouldn’t wear it much), wasn’t even sure about an engagement ring of any type. We both started out wearing titanium bands, but we both sorta stopped wearing them. I actually didn’t get any strange looks—most people gushed over what a cool titanium ring it was.
I switched a ring I like from my right hand to my left, and wear it when I remember/when we’re not doing something outdoorsey. We *are* having custom wedding rings made, though.

I didn’t get a ring at first… but we did get one later. I got him a ring too, so we’ve both been marked! In my line of work, it is very helpful to have a ring…

I didn’t get an engagement ring. I’ll wear a wedding band after we are married, but I’m not a ringy-type of person.

I voted yes, but I got the ring 5 months after we got "engaged" and started planning. We spent some time looking at rings together and decided on an antique-style sapphire ring, and he gave it to me right before Christmas. Not everyone immediately identifies it as an engagement ring, though, but it’s beautiful and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

There are lots of unusual rings mentioned here- I’d love to see some photos of them!

I’m ringless for the moment. Mr.Sapphire wanted to wait until he asked my dad’s permission (which is complicated and still in the works). I still get a lot of questions about why I’m not wearing a ring even though I’m engaged. You’re not alone!!
When I finally get it, this is what it will look like:

Broke grad students = no ring! We have inherited some diamonds, and eventually we’ll make a ring outta them….but I snag my clothes on anything that sticks out, so I am pretty over it. Beign OK with it has been a bit of a mental battle every now and then, though…

I’m a ring girl, but I love non-traditional engagement gifts! If you’re feeling a bit alone, the bees will always back you up 🙂 but you can also check out offbeat bride for a lot of non-traditional bridies and their pictures!

I have no ring. I’m also unsure about getting a wedding ring. I’ve never been a fan of jewelery; rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, that kind of thing. Now that I’m at a daycare and wash my hands a billion times a day, my skin is very sensitive. I thought briefly about getting a tattoo in lieu of a ring, but that before my skin spazzed out. I know for certain that I want no gems on my potential wedding ring. My boyfriend (fiance sounds weird!) does want a wedding ring, so if he finds something completely awesome, I’ll probably get one like his.
*The abbreviations on this site are very confusing. If someone could explain all the FH, Fiance, Future Mother-In-Law, etc., that would be greatly appreciated. I looked around, but this site is not so easy to navigate. :S
