i just wanted to do a bit of a roll call for all the bees who work from home. I am a medical transcriptionist/health document editor and work from home for about 5 hours each day. Anyone else? What is a typical workday like for you?

I work from home full time, with my doggie as my only coworker for now 🙂 I’m a marketing director for a startup. I relocated back to my home state and got to keep my job because I’m always on the computer anyway! It works out great and I honestly would never want to go back to an office again.
Things are going to get interesting pretty soon though. Darling Husband has been building up a solo practice for his law firm and is going full time with it at the new year. So we will both be working from home! Should make for an interesting workday once we add some kiddos to the mix!

I have 2 jobs, one in an office and one at home. My office job is a part-time journalist/editor gig, and my at-home job is doing freelance business writing. I’m working towards building up my freelance profile and being able to transition into working only from home. This way I can move to the most beautiful, peaceful and remote locations and I won’t have to worry about commuting to an office.

lavenderstone: I also work from home, however on my current contract it’s not exclusively. I would say currently I work from home 4 days a week and work from my client’s office 1 day a week to make sure I’m around/visible/able to catch up face to face as needed as I think it’s important in my current role to have presence even if it isn’t a requirement. I run a consultancy for myself and contract as a business consultant/analyst in the financial sector but I’m currently looking at options to pick up an additional part-time contract on the side while I’m my current project is quiet, just an idea I’ve been considering. When working from home I generally start between 8am and 9am depending on how much is going on, and work until is needed: some days that’s 4pm but sometimes occassionally it’s 7pm. I’ve definitely good a good deal at the moment though as in past lives I’ve been on the laptop/blackberry until all hours and it’s not healthy long term.
What do you love most about working from home? What do you like least? Is it preferrable to you?
For me I absolutely love it as I work best with freedom and bursts of super productivity. It’s ideal as I get the laundry done, cook from fresh when I’m not running around getting organised to go out the door and it’s cheaper in terms of transport and sustinence. I seriously LOVE working from home! I know it’s not for everyone though.. Xxx

Following- I’ve been wanting to transition to working from home and it doesn’t seem terribly easy to get into. I have about a year/ year and a half left at my current job, I want to stay at least through maternity leave and a few months after. Not preggo yet but TTC fairly soon.

lavenderstone: I work from home every Friday. I’m in insurance and pretty much handle claims, calls, or other stuff relating to claims. My typical work day is work from 7:00a.m. – 3:30 p.m. I file claims, file docs, answer calls. Pretty easy
