We met with a celebrant last night and discussed us writing our own vows…now all of a sudden I’m stressed out by it! I know what style I want but I just can’t seem to find the words.
Any other September brides writing their vows? We’ve got a while but where on earth do you start?

I am also September (14th)….I am thinking about it and found a few nice pieces on one of the wedding bee boards….you could just do a google search probably and find some ideas..:)

October bee crashing! Sorry!
FI and I had discussed this a few months ago and decided that we would give it a try. Well, last week we actually sat down and did it! It took a little while to figure out how to get started and the format we wanted to use, but I’m so glad that we wrote our own! It will make our day even more special.

We are! We haven’t even thought about what to put in them though, we still have a lot of time!

Well we are going to come up with our own ceremony and vows with the help of our officiant. I haven’t gotten around to it yet…I’m thinking I’ll spend June or July thinking about it. I’d like to have it done in July or August at the latest.
So…haven’t started yet!

We are! And we still have to write them lol.

That’s the idea… but we haven’t done a single thing about designing our ceremony… !!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I’ve reached the procrastinating ‘why didn’t we elope?’ stage.

We’re writing our own! I’ve already written mine (and re-written a few times) but last night I actually decided on the perfect vows. I know that my FH will wait until the last minute! But I love the personalization. 🙂

I really loved Mrs. Jam’s post on writing vows, and even shared it with FI. We haven’t actually started writing yet but I know we’re both collecting anecdotes and are on the same page re: length and format. Our personal vows will be in addition to the traditional, “do you…/I do” so they’re more about why we’ve chosen each other 🙂

@sera_archie: With my vows I just want to say things from the heart. I want to thank my man for being there for me, for supporting me when I was sick, for looking after my animals lol, for listening, for never judging, for tolerating my bossiness lol

We both wrote our own vows. It meant so much more to hear each other say something personal. We each emailed them to our matron of honor so she could proofread and ensure that they were similar in length and tone.
Kerry, you came into my life so unexpectedly and you have changed it in every way possible for the better. I love you because of your artistic creativity, passion, humor, and your kind and gentle spirit. I believe in you not only as you are now, but also as the person you will grow to be, and the couple that we will be together.
I promise to encourage and support your creative spirit, because that is what makes you unique and wonderful.
I promise to be a partner to you in all things, because together we are stronger than apart.
I promise to understand, accept, and love you for who you are. I promise to encourage you to grow but never to change you.
I promise to be with you in good times when life is easy and love is simple. I promise to comfort you in bad times when life is hard and our love is challenged because I know that we will endure it.
I promise to be honorable and true to you and to always be worthy of your love, because I can not imagine a life without you.
These things I vow to you today, forever, and always.
