Whatever. Let her wear the white dress if she wants – everyone else at your wedding will just think she’s a major tacky bitch. I wouldn’t fight with her about it but would take personal satisfaction in everyone you know disliking her because of it.

I wouldn’t even take the $ now if she offers, it’ll just give her ammo and something to hold over your head

my mother in law wanted to wear white also. i believe it was the same dress she wore for my sister in law’s wedding. thankfully, my sister in law asked me if i’d had any specific color in mind and took her mom shopping. i had asked the moms to wear a darker blue or a silver/gray. my mother in law ended up in black. not really what i wanted, but at least it wasn’t white!

i think i would rather have my Mother-In-Law try to wear a ivory dress instead of the juniors prom dress thats shes insisting shes wearing! it looks like its made for a 16 year old…not a 60 year old! its bloody aweful 🙁 🙁

@MissEMich:  That is VERY weird. Was it deliberate or did the bride somehow not get the message and was too busy at the time?

@MissEMich:

that is super weird and would have pissed me the eff off. she should have been part of the picture because that day made her part of the “family.” Seems to me Future Mother-In-Law tried to make her feel otherwise. Don’t let that fly on your wedding day! I have to ask, have you had issues with her before you got engaged or is the wedding making her rear her ugly head?

My Mother-In-Law wore a white swimsuit coverup without a bra for goodness sake! Although my husband told her plenty of times that the only requirement is that it is unacceptable to wear white to a wedding, she did so anyway. And WITHOUT A BRA!!! IN A SWIMSUIT COVER UP!

Sometimes you just have to let it go. I just don’t put up any photos you can see her entire dress in. And no matter how irritated I was at her for wearing that, my excitement that I was marrying the love of my life greatly overshaddowed anyone else, especially my Mother-In-Law. But, I know how you feel and good luck!
