I love my mother. I do. But good god. She was a little crazy before all this wedding nonsense, but now she’s jumped off the deep end.
No long post, not wasting energy on her tweak out today, since I know by tomorrow she’ll have a different one.
But can I just get a show of hands for those of you who are also wondering what on earth happened to their mothers the minute that ring hit your finger?

Bahahahahahahaha! This made me crack up because I soooooo get it. lol
Yesterday my mom was worried about the wedding and what my bridesmaids were gonna wear, and today she was so happy an excited about it. Ugh, I guess its a tough time for them too haha

Ha, my mom (luckily) is fine. I’m the second to get married (of 5 kids) AND I got engaged about a month after she found out she’d be a grandma. SO, she’s been more interested in the baby than the wedding. She’s not ignoring me by any means, but the baby certainly diverts her attention and keeps her from going crazy on me. 🙂

Ha! Yes, my mom told me yesterday that I HAD to have a bridal shower. Then when I was talking to her about it today, she said, “Well, you don’t have to have a shower”. What?? I guess they are just as confused as we all get sometimes.

THANK YOU!!!! OMFG!! My Mom has been fantastic and supportive whether she agreed with what we were doing or not, but my MIL?!?! She cast aside her nun-like presence and took up this hellcat, guiltrip tossing, manipulative bridezilla personality!! She invited people without asking, nothing was EVER good enough, and made a backyard reception into an expensive event. Im SO at a loss too because I dont really know how to respond to head games… My Hunni and I told her we are eloping(even tho we are not) because of this and we are keeping her in the dark until invites are sent. Its an aweful way to handle the situation but I need the peace from retarded amounts of emails, FB messages and posts, and calls per day. At least she has accomplished one thing, she pissed off my fiance(her son) so much he actually got involved in the wedding planning. lol. I will thank her AFTER its all over.. maybe.

We call my mom McMamma (Mad Canadian Mother). My Mother-In-Law INSISTED on bridal showers after I told her no- at one of them my mom was downing little bottles of vodka because she didn’t want to be there and somehow my sister/mom got into it on the car ride home. My mom starts screaming at my sister- she sounded like a very angry Canadian (she’s from the UP of Michigan). She made my sister stop the car at she got out. I called my dad in tears (I hadn’t slept in almost two days because I was taking finals) and he starts cracking up and yells, “the mad candian has been unleashed!”(I guess she had pulled the mad canadian stunt a few times when she was mad at him in college)
Since that day we have all called her McMamma.

I am sorry some of you are having issues with your moms.
Sometimes posts like this make me wish that I could have issues with my mom. She passed away 15 years ago from cancer. It was very unexpected.
Hopefully, you will look back on these things and remember them with love and also be able to laugh about them with your moms.

I wish my mom could be involved in the wedding planning. She is disabled and home bound. We had to skype her in when I went wedding dress shopping. I am sure it is driving you nuts..I could totally seeing her doing that to me, but honestly I would almost rather her to be going nuts than not being involved at all.
I hope she calms down though!

I kinda wish my mom would drive me crazy too. She could care less about my wedding. I honestly could not have paid my mom to go dress shopping with me. The ONE time she actually went, we looked for an hour. Thats it. And then she was done. And the whole time had no opinon or interest whatsoever. My mom has a cycle. When she doesnt have a bf or is having problems with her bf, she is my best friend. But when she has a bf and is happy i pretty much dont exist. I know she loves me and all, but she can be a very selfish person.

Ugh, I was JUST thinking this… my mom texted me to help me with china and flatware for my registry. I mentioned that our apartment didn’t have a microwave and she says, “Sorry. But don’t register for that”. I said I already did because there is no reason not to. Her next text? “Love you. Have a goodnight.” We weren’t even finished with the whole china/flatware thing! Wtf?! I swear… she gets her panties in a wad because I disagree with her about a microwave that’s $50! It’s not like I’m registering for them to fly me to the moon!

Took me dam near 8 years to get this far and now she’s talking about being ready to be a “grandma” wooh wooh one step at a time lady! AHH!

@CupCakeMeg: LOL! Same with me! Last year it was “Absolutely not, you’re too young to get married!” and now it’s all “When are you planning to have children?”
The other thing, I don’t even HAVE an older sister but our wedding is constantly being compared to their friends’ daughter’s wedding a couple of years ago. “Well they did it like this…” “They had this at their wedding…”

OMG, my mom was crazy before and she’s done nothing but bad-mouth our decisions.
Her prize line: I hope you don’t look back on this in ten/fifteen years and hate yourself for it.
His Mom was wanting me to have calla lilly because that’s what my FI’s younger sister had. FMIL was also saying things like “she had this, she had that”. ARGH! I’m not his little sister!!!! I do not want a white gown with a veil and a bouquet of calla lilies. It. Isn’t. Me. Nor is it my Fiance and it’s OUR WEDDING!

My wedding, which is being planned in 12 months, has all the normal trimmings of a wedding has been CONSTANTLY compared to FH’s sister’s wedding which was planned in 10 weeks because she was pregnant. Apparently, for them, it’s more appealing to plan a wedding BECAUSE of a pregnancy (for real, F-MIL said, “her wedding was just sooooo amazing!….”)
The insanity doesn’t stop there but I don’t have the days to type out the crazy-talk.
My mom just yells out, “If you don’t register for flatware, people will think you are POOR!” at our local the Bay. Serenity now.

My mom’s latest freakout on me is about how we’re getting breakfast while we’re getting ready the morning of. Why does this discussion even involve me? That’s the LAST thing on my mind!!
Gotta love her!
