  • Wedding: November 2018

I’m a November 2018 bride who got engaged at the end of August. We booked our venue and photographer over 3 months before getting engaged, and now have our caterer booked, hair and makeup booked, dress and shoes purchased, Save the Dates and invitations ready, and most of our DIY decor done. Planning de-stresses me because it lets me focus on things I can control. I love working on the details and already have a pretty solid day-of timeline going.

Envy you. Huge pressure here. I’m always a last-minute person. The whole wedding planning thing nearly drives me crazy.

I’m already married but I also felt like my planning was almost all done within the first couple months. Everything big (venue, photographer, catering, DJ, florist, cake) was all nailed down within 3 months of getting engaged. We had a 13 month engagement but we spent very little of that time actively planning. I like to have everything together as far in advance as possible.

  • Wedding: August 2017

I got engaged at the end of October and we’re getting married in August 2018. So far we have a venue, dress, DJ, photographer, hair and makeup, bridesmaids (and their dresses), groomsmen, dates for bridal shower and bachelorette, registry, save the dates have been sent, invitations are ordered, and hotel block is reserved. My next projects are florist (this one is stressing me out a bit), ceremony musicians (fiancee wants a bagpiper!!), and SHOES! I’m a total type A personality with a huge amount of anxiety. I always tell people I’m an opposite-procrastionator because I absolutely panic if I can’t cross things off my to-do list right away haha. I also love having a project to work on and this is really the ultimate project! Good luck with all your planning!

Oh edited to add: we also have our website up and running 🙂

  • Wedding: September 2018

I got engaged Sept 10, 2017. Our wedding will be Sept 22, 2018. I have all vendors booked. 80% of my DIY stuff done. The dress is bought. Bridesmaids and flower girls have picked out their dresses but haven’t purchased yet.

Everything is organized and labeled in totes that are hidden behind my couch. I have a 3 ring binder broken into sections with all of the wedding details and contracts.

Yeah …. I’m a planner! Fiancé says everything will be done by March at the latest, and I kind of agree with him! lol

We got engaged in August, and are still looking at venues. But we’re looking at June 2019, so we have time.

beegirl1989 :  we want to get married during our anniversary month, August (at which point would be 7 years after we started dating) and the main problem is that my dad is only in the country for the first 5 days of August. We may change the timing but it’s proven challenging with the rest of my family’s schedule.. I know I should just plan my own day but I feel like I have to work around them now. I don’t know. I appreciate this conversation about planning, dates and reservations.. it’s definitely on my mind a lot lately

We got engaged like a month ago but want to get married soon cause we want to get on the baby train on/after the honeymoon. We’re in our 30s so don’t want to wait another year for the wedding… apparently August is very popular! Who know :p

We had the venue, caterer, dj, lighting, florist, church, photographer, videographer, dress and bridesmaid dresses all booked/ordered within one month of getting engaged. We are having a 6 month engagement though, so we had to quickly book all of our vendors and get the dresses ordered.

We had an 18 month engagement and a Sunday wedding, and still started planning and putting down deposits right away. You are smart to do it all now if you are having a short engagement (i.e. less than a year) in a popular season! I can’t believe your friends even found hair and makeup artists or a DJ a few weeks before.. in a lot of areas they would have gone without one if they waited that long.

I really want to be done with planning within 2 months.

We got engaged Sunday and I already have a dress and my photographer and we have a backup free venue if we don’t find a larger one (currently looking at a 300 person guest list and we can fit 200 in the free venue if we want space for dancing). Fi disagreed with the outdoor venue idea, seems to feel weather in May in DFW is unpredictable. Which is true and I agree with, still we love the outdoors and it’s sad we can’t have our reception outside. I now know that one of my old high school friends manages a cheap venue that holds 300. I’ll probably ahow pics to Fiance some time when we’re bored and talking about wedding stuff.

Not worried about catering or cake. I’m cheap and don’t do carbs, so we’re getting Costco cakes and will be catered by a local Mexican restaurant. They are cheap, but we’ll have to pick it up and serve it buffet style and clean up afterward.

We got engaged on 4th Nov. We booked venue. Registrar and photographer inside of 2 weeks and I also bought my dress despite a spring 2019 wedding. Just ordered invites. Figured most other things can wait.
