I’ve been on a short one from Barcelona to Marseilles to Ibiza (& back to Barcelona). We went on Royal Caribbean and it was the same nice ship/decent food you get on one of their caribbean cruises. It probably had to do with the Ibiza port but it was a much younger crowd then you typically see on a cruise ship. Theres were TONS of British people haha.

We did a couple days in Barcelona after the cruise. One of my favorite cities ever.

I did a mediterranean cruise with my family for my highschool graduation. It was one of the best experiences of my life. We started in Istanbul and ended in Barcelona. We stopped in Ephesus, Athens, Venice, Naples, Florence, Monte Carlo and Barcelona.

One thing my dad did was book private tours ahead of time on the internet instead of going through the ship. We were able to get independent tour guides that showed only our family around instead of having to wait for huge groups from the ship. It also helped because they could tailor our tour to what interested us and we could easily follow and hear the tour guide because we weren’t in a group of 50 people. We also got to see a lot more places because we didn’t have to wait for people to get on and off busses….etc. I would highly recommend doing that, especially in the heavy “sight seeing” cities.

In Florence, the ship was parked about 1 hour from the city. We got off the ship, went to the line of cabs and my dad offered $300 to a driver to take us around the city for the day. It was much cheaper than paying for a tour excursion for 5 people, we got to spend a lot more time exploring the city, we got to leave each stop when we felt like we’d seen enough. It was a fantastic way to experience the city on such a short amount of time.

@CanAmBride:  Good idea about booking our tours before hand! We are thinking about doing a Mediterranean cruise as well, but starting from Barcelona. My only concern is feeling like you squeeze too much Europe into such a short amount of time…did you feel that way?! Thanks!
