I am not a passive aggressive person. When I feel like I’m being treated poorly, or at least not to the standard I am paying for, I let my feelings be known. About 2 months ago, my Fiance and I ordered takeout on a rainy night (totally normal in NYC) and it took over an hour to get to us (not normal). I had had a couple beers (on an empty stomach) and was totally starving after a long day at work. After a couple calls to the restaurant where the person answering just shrugged me off and said “I don’t know where your food is, the delivery guy left a really long time ago” I asked to speak to the manager and demanded to be compensated.
I was compensated, they gave me a 50% discount on our order (which of course finally arrived while I was on the phone with the manager), but now I feel awkward ordering from that restaurant again. I wish I didn’t let myself get so angry, that I could handle these situations with grace. I definitely lost my cool, and am embarassed.
Anyone else have this happen? Or how do you avoid it?
