Hey all! I’m doing a candy buffet for my wedding favors (I have a BIG sweet tooth, lol). I am researching candy scoops/tongs, and I’ve come across some beaded ones on Etsy… but they are too expensive! I’m reasonably crafty and I am going to attempt this craft with my Maid/Matron of Honor. Anyone ever do this? If so, give me a tutorial, or tips at least!! Also, what type of scoops/tongs did you use and where from? Or, if you don’t know how to bead but you bought nice scoops somewhere, I’d just like to know where you got them 🙂 Thanks!

that looks so beautiful!! I’ve never done this myself or seen a tutorial but I just wanted to drool over the prettiness 😉 Good luck!!!

I have never done it, but it looks pretty simple. Just beads and wire. They make a metal on metal glue you can buy at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby that would work to attach the wire to the spoon.

I made one today! Cost about 7 bucks, but I’ve a TON of material left over. You’ll probably want to do it on a nicer spoon too, so that would up the cost. But it only took me about 30 minutes-

Looks like you can just wrap the wire tightly around any spoon and add beads as you’re wrapping it…very cool though – I just may have to borrow this idea!

Kindly remove my beaded scoop from this blog. Infact, please remove this blog. You have no right stealing a picture and concept without permission

Does it count as stealing if the image is found on google and there is credit linking back to the source?

Pretty sure that if you don’t have permission, they are perfectly within their rights to ask you to remove the photo. Just because a lot of people let you use their images with a reference to the source, doesn’t mean that they have to let you 🙂

First of all, I didn’t “steal” your concept. You are not the only person who makes and/or sells beaded scoops/spoons/etc. on the Internet. Second, i was sure to credit you and your shop for the picture, as I clearly admired your work.
As far as I know weddingbee doesn’t allow members to delete posts on their own for whatever reason so go ahead and ask whoever runs the site to delete the picture. Considering that the beading concept wasn’t invented by you, you have no right to ask that my entire blog entry be deleted.

Well, this could have been a nice business opp for the seller, but that attitude put me off. The spoons are cute and anyone can get some wire and beads and do it themselves.

You’d think someone might be happy to get a bit of free advertising. Obviously it’s her perrogative and all, but that’s just my thoughts. I’d be a little turned off if I knew a seller had that attitude.

@Beadz2Pleaz: how rude, she didnt steal your concept, and you just possibly lost out on sales because of your remark here…

@Miss Tattoo: I totally agree. If I was the seller, I would have been flattered. This seller is not the only one selling these beaded candy scoops. The concept of a beaded candy spoon is not a new one, and you are correct, almost anyone could make their own, but a lot of other people would have gone to this sellers site and probably bought a few. I know I had considered it, even though I love to DIY, but because of the attitude, I have decided not too.

@Beadz2Pleaz: Perhaps google “beaded spoon” and see all the results that come up…clearly you aren’t the only person to come up with this (and definitely not the first). I would be ecstatic if someone not only loved my work enough to ask a question like this, but also linked to my page to increase my business…

@noritake22: Damn, I spent 5 minutes trying to think of the word (flattered), and it just wouldn’t come to mind. This is me to Fiance “so…what’s that word when I tell you do something good, how does it make you feel…?” I am so overtired. Thanks for reading my mind!
