Has anyone had experience with aonel.com? I’m thinking of ordering some bridesmaid dresses from them but know that all of these replica dress sites are not made equal. If not, do you have suggestions for reputable sites/dressmakers? It sounds like Milly bridal and Jeff Liu are good. What about others? Many thanks!

I was wondering the same thing! I’ve seen lots of different sites that advertise the dress I love in custom form but am not sure which one is real, or for that matter, any good. I always search for reviews but as of yet have not found one that makes me feel confident in using aonel.com. I would love to know if there is a reputable knock-off company out there for this endeavor. I’m trying to spend as little as possible, since the whole thing will be out of pocket for us.

I gave up on this route and ended up buying a dress that is a sample. And the detail on it is very art deco-y! Are you going for that kind of look? What I’ve read on these boards is that the replica dresses do not do detail very well, btw. They’ll caputre the silhouette, but the rest is a total gamble. In the various posts I’ve read about replica dresses gone wrong, it seems that the dressmakers see the dress for silhouette, but the bride sees it for detail.
I got mine in a shop and I’m glad I did bc I’m learning that fit is really everything. I tried on all sorts of pretty things that I fell in love with in pictures but they looked sub-optimal once I had them on.
If you find a dress in a shop that really flatters your figure see if you can get someone to make a copy and if it will cost less.Or see if it’s up on preownedweddingdresses.com. They have a lot of new dresses up there, too. Also, some shops have semi-annual sample sales.
(If you’re interested, dress I got is here: http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com/dresses/26431/Tara-Keely-2852-Size-8.html I have a very square-ish figure–not a lot of curves–so it’s good for me. This particular dress has been up on that site for a while so I bet you could bargain w/ the owner. I got mine for $1400 in a shop here in NYC and am getting it altered. I sort of wish I had seen this first, but it’s too late. I never would have chosen this dress based on the designers pictures, btw, but of all the dresses I tried on it looked the best and I just loved it. The sweep train detail is very deco-y. Can send you pics from the latest fitting if you want. )

I ordered my bridesmaid dress from Aonel.com and it was horrible. First tip off that this wasn’t going to be good was that it arrived in a beat up, duct taped bag witha Teddy Bear on the front… When I opened it and tried it on the fit was all wrong. Sure I could zip it up fine but the seams were all in the wrong place and the bust was lopsided. It was gathered at the sides of the waist which cause the fabric to bloom outwards and give me an extra 20 lbs to my silhouette…thanks but no thanks! It reminded me of the time I tried to make a prom dress in Home Economics in High School. Key word “Tried”. Here is a list of the problems with the Aonel dress: Seams were uneven and showing in many places, unfinished hems and some were cut but not sown at all, lining was showing at the bust line, those cut hems were cut unevenly and had jagged edges, the lining, zipper and outer layer were three completely different shades of red, it was a bright red rather than the darker burgundy shown in the picture I could go on but you get the idea…
Ulitmately we wound up finding a really nice dress at The Limited. Who knew they had a wedding line? It was even half the price of the ‘cheap’ chinese copycat dress!

I ordered 3 custom dresses in total. I had a horrible experience with my 1st dress. If you have the time to read my reivew and see the pics then maybe it will help your decision with that particular seller.
My second 2 dresses were beyond perfection and craftsmanship. Also the customer service was wonderful.
I haven’t tried aonel.com or heard of any reviews. Go with the company you feel most comfortable with.

A friend of mine ordered her wedding dress from aonel.com and had great success! Her dress came so beautiful! From what I’ve heard about aonel, the dresses either come in great or terrible. I’ve never heard an “the dress was ok” review. I just ordered my dress from them, and hopefully it turns out good! 🙂 And the prices are too good to pass up.

Aonel.com is awful. The dress looked great on the website but it was super ugly for the real thing They make you send them pictures and then refuse to allow you to return it. If you have plenty of time to fight with them through your credit card company then go ahead and take your chances to save a few bucks.
