one of my moms (not very close) friends recently became a grandmother and told my mom with disdain how she thought her new grandchild was ugly. It made me feel so sad. An innocent little baby, how can someone judge them by their looks?

And then again I guess we’ve all seen babies that weren’t that pretty by the weird standards set by media etc, but I’d never mention this out loud I think. After all, if you were squeezed out through a vagina over the course of several hours would you look any better? haha. I think I will find my own children beautiful when I have them, not in a ‘you’re gonna model in a catalog’ way but in a ‘I made you and you’re a miracle’ kind of way….

I’m kind of nervous about this because my husband was a very unattractive baby! Lol

Haha…I think most babies are kind of ugly looking.  I’ve seen some exceptions, there are only a few that really make me go “AWWWW!” early on.  Most of them end up being pretty cute by the time they’re toddlers, though not all (IMO).  There have definitely been some average babies I’ve seen (not adorable but not ugly) that end up being the cutest toddlers.

I imagine most mothers are programmed to think theirs is cute so I wouldn’t worry about thinking your own was hideous!

@hspw714:  My ex boyfriend showed me his baby picture once. This is what he looked like:

No joke. He was an ugly baby. And not incredibly attractive as an adult, either.

I was in a rut, okay? I don’t want to talk about my bad choices!

I was a cute baby, DH was an ugly baby, so I have hope that our baby will look decent. 😛

I think to most parents their baby is cute. I think people lie to parents all the time. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said how ugly a baby was on FB , but in person ther is no way I can tell a parent that their baby is ugly. I either don’t comment at all or say, “Awwwww.”

I thought a few times about whether my daughter would be a cute baby. I wouldn’t say I was nervous, or it was a concern, but it was a thought. She was (and is!) the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my entire life. I have definitely seen not-so-beautiful babies, and I always think my daughter is the cutest baby in the store. It may just be because she’s mine, though. 🙂

Oh, but I was an UGLY baby. I ask my mom what she thought when I was born, and she said she thought I was gorgeous. It must be a mom thing. I was an adorable toddler, though!

@hspw714:  I always joke with my family and friends that I am worried that I won’t know if our baby isn’t “attractive” because I clearly think he/she is perfection.  My Dad’s best friend says he’ll let me know by saying “That’s SOOOOOOOOME baby!”

@hspw714:  I think most babies are ugly until they reach about a month old because they still look all weird lol

@hspw714:  It’s actually really funny. My mom had my sister pretty young. She was 18 when my sister was born. My sister was very dark skined and had LONG black hair and a smushed face when she was born. My mom was so sad she was so ugly. She was heavily involved in a church. She even had told me that when people from the church came to visit and told her how cute my sister was, she cried for them because she knew they were going to hell for lying. My sister is really beautiful now and grew out of the ugly baby thing after a few months. I know my mom didn’t love her any less for thinking she was ugly.

I had to ask my best girl friends to please be honest with me about whether or not my baby was cute!  I have a theory that EVERY mom thinks her baby is the MOST beautiful baby in the world… and SHE SHOULD!  My pals did assure me that I did not end up with a butt-ugly baby though.

Newborns are especially ugly most of the time. Rarely do I see a cute newborn! My cousin has admitted that while she thought her first child was gorgeous, she definitely found her second baby ugly at first. Of course she still thought baby #2 was the most amazing thing in the world, but she could tell that she was not a pretty baby. Hah.

I’m terrified that I’ll have an ugly baby. (one of the many reasons I want to adopt, lol)

I was an alright looking baby, pretty cute. But I was bald forever. I haven’t seen too many baby pictures of SO, but he is Scottish, and has had a unibrow since day 1. He’s super attractive now, though! But I would just have this urge all the time to pluck the poor babys eyebrows. That sounds so horrible 🙁

I have a few friends that are havig babies now.. its so hard to tell the outcome. But the best looking couple I know had the ugliest baby of the bunch. Maybe its because she had plastic surgery… but damn. And a bunch of unattractive parents have super cute babies.
