I’m from Victoria! Well… I’m from upisland, but we live and work in Victoria right now. Moving back up island as soon as we can. We are NOT city people, even though Vic isn’t that big of a city. I long for the valley! That’s where we’re getting married in Sept.

I do like Victoria, don;t get me wrong, just tired of living so close to other people!

@jesses-girl:

For a second I thought this was my post except for the Valley part. I am frim up Island too, and although I think Victoria is a nice little city (Kind of feels like a bg Qualicum) I long for the idea of not having my neighbors three feet away from our property and not being able to hear their car doors slam i the morning. We plan on buying up Island in the future where we can have bon fires in our yard and not worry about street parking ect. I feel kind of spoiled growing up outside the city. I fond it crazy that kids take public transit to school!

My Fiance grew up in Calgary but once he moved to the Island he realized how much nicer it is πŸ™‚

@Candace From BC:

I am SO looking forward to moving back the the Valley…We live in a basement suite now in a pretty dense subdivision. While the convienience is great, I want to be able to sit on my back porch and not see my neighbours fighting in their kitchen…

How is your wedding coming? All I have booked is our photographer…the reception is pretty easy cause it’s a low-key BBQ-type affair. Have you found a dress yet? I’ve looked around at Blush ($$$$$) and Shades of White, but I still have to check out Luz and there is one in Nanaimo I want to go to as well…

@jesses-girl:  Sorry, again it has taken me forever to reply!I have a good friend from the Valley.

The planning is going….Slowly πŸ™‚ Because it’s a destination wedding and 9 months away I am kind of doing little bit by bit. We have booked the venue (a huge mansion in Palm Springs) where we will have the reception and it will act as a place for our guests to hang out with us for the days they are still in town for the wedding. A lot of people thing “oh they must have money if they booked a mansion” Nope! Not the case! They way I explain it to people is that we are paying $1000 a night for a place that will sleep 10 people (5 couples) and can even sleep more if we wanted and this way we don’t have to pay for a reception hall and all of that. My Fiance and I will sleep in the Casita, while my parents, his parents his oldest sister and husband and my oldest sister and husband have the bedrooms. We rented it for four nights, but may change it to three depending how we feel closer to the actual day.

We have also booked and paid for the ceremony venue which is in Joshua Tree National Park. It will be outside πŸ™‚ We have also paid for the permit.

I have having my dress made πŸ™‚ I have chosen the material and the style and now I have to wait for her to call and ask me to come in to discuss the details of trim etc….I can’t wait!!

We are VERY non traditional people so right now I am struggling to find wedding ceremony scripts that describe us as a couple. IT’S SO HARD!

One of my best friends is getting married in April, and we just booked her in for dress consultations for this Saturday!! (The just decided to get married like 2 weeks ago!) We are going to the three places you mentioned–Blush, Shades Of White and Luz.

Good luck! Keep me posted on how it’s all going for you!!

It would be cool if we could have a Victoria (and surrounding) bride meet-up! I am not getting married here but it would be awesome to talk wedding stuff!

@NewfieBullet:  That would be awesome! I’m not getting married on the Island either, (DW in Palm Springs) but I would still love a meet-up. I wonder how many there are of us?
