I live in Mattapoisett :-). I have not been to a wedding there, but I do live 3 minutes away and drove down there to check it out during the summer. Its really beautiful, though there is a slight view of the YMCA playground. (though this may not actually be visible in the wedding area, if that makes sense?? It was sort of dark) Also I’m pretty sure you have to use Russel Morin Fine Catering, which I’ve heard is REALLY expensive! But I myself am very curious about this venue as well…. They have nice pictures online, but Id love to hear some reviews from real brides regarding the details.

I’m getting married there in October!  I think this past summer was the first summer that they did weddings on a regular basis.  There should be more photos going up soon from the summer weddings.

You do have to use Russell Morin, but their pricing isn’t too bad (IMO).

If you haven’t been to the venue, I can try to answer any questions you might have.  We are spending a little bit more on the venue rental than expected, but I absolutely fell in love with it and knew it was perfect for our wedding.

Does anyone know how much it costs just to rent the venue Shining Tides? I know all catering is specific to what the menu is but I am trying to compare a few different venues and the planner at ST hasn’t emailed me back yet… wondering if anyone can help?

@bcondonhenry11:  It can be a little bit of a sticker shock.  I only know what the rates are for 2012, which vary from $4000-5500.  I think they are a little bit more flexible on some months/days.  They did work with us to drop the fee for an October wedding.  It is nice to know that the fee it is going to a good cause.

Thanks ladies, I called again and Elizabeth answered! She quoted me $6000 for a wedding on a Saturday in August 2013. Yes I am kind of blown away by the price but I think I’m going to talk to her about another date/time that would be less expensive but still have an nice outdoor ceremony.

@blondetourage  – no tables or chairs… :/ includes the covered porch, dance floor, security, day of planner, and a few other little things. Unfortunately I don’t think we will be able to afford that on top of the quotes I got from Morins catering who they are exclusive with. Already over budget without factoring in anything but venue and food? no thanks. 🙁
