Okay, so FH and I have a great realtor. i mean this woman has gone to bat for us and then some. When we were ready to give up because of a bad loan officer, who basically disappeared because he messed up our loan which caused a huge amount of delays, she was there to give us hope and to fight for us.
So to thank her for everything she has done, I was thinking a gift. Has anyone given their realtor a gift before? If so, what was it? I am going to recommend her to everyone I know who is looking for a house cause she was so awesome. But I kind of feel like i need to do more.

@jatelynn: Give a breezy gift that she’ll enjoy, but nothing too extravagant. Like maybe a gift basket of teas, coffee cup, and maybe some aroma therapy?

My mom and dad are both realtors. My mom does residential and my dad does commercial….I just asked my mom and she says she primarily gets gift cards to restaurants, etc, but has gotten a picture frame as well

@jatelynn: what about a massage or a gift certificate for the spa!

You don’t need to do more. She provided a service and she got paid for it. You wouldn’t give your doctor a gift for doing a good job, would you? Don’t get me wrong, it’s incredibly kind and thoughtful of you to do so, but in my opinion, not necessary. Allowing her to provide the same great level of service to others you know will be very much appreciated 🙂

My mom was a realtor for years. She always said that the best gift you can give a realtor is a referral. So perhaps a token (e.g. an inexpensive but well rated bottle of wine) with a note saying that you plan to refer her to your friends?

We gave our realtor a Starbucks gift card (she ALWAYS had a coffee with her when we were looking at houses).

I expect a realtor to go to bat for us and help make sure we get through any issues (no matter how big or small) that arise in the process. It sounds to me like your realtor simply did her job.
I wouldn’t give my realtor a gift personally, besides referring them to friends/family/neighbors/etc who might be in need of their services.

@anothersmith: My dad is a doctor and my stepmother a realtor. They both get gifts from patients and clients! When someone goes above and beyond for you, its a really nice gesture to show that you appreciate them.
Of course, they don’t get gifts from everyone, but there are special cases where people feel inclined to really express their gratitude.

A recommendation is the best thing you can do, but a little gift is nice too. Ours was a little flaky so I haven’t actually recommended her to anyone – but I did get her a nice bottle of wine. Most realtors will get their client a closing present as well, so it’s nice to be able to give her something in return.
