I think both clear and colored look great in halos, I’m a little biased towards colored stones though, that’s what I’m getting 🙂 I love the way they pop in a white halo!

This is my dream ring right now, we haven’t officially picked one yet though.

@MabelleBliss:  I LOVE that ring, it is beautiful! If I were to have a center stone with color, I also would make it a softer color- but many people like bold color’s like the rich blue of a sapphire, really just comes down to personal preference!

@abirdword:  That’s exactly why I’m so in love with aquamarine 🙂 I wanted dark sapphires at first but I didn’t like them as much in person as lighter stones

I LOVE colored stones (especially sapphire). My engagement ring was a pink sapphire, but I did find myself missing the sparkle of something like a diamond, so I got a moissanite. Love!

we were thinking diamond, then moissy, then diamond, and now a light yellow sapphire in a halo (= I actually prefer halos with a colored stone, if we do end up with a clear stone, it’ll be a solitaire.  (All personal opinion so I’d prefer not to be tarred and feathered later in this post – ALL rings are beautiful (= ) The ring you picked is nothing short of stunning, so it’s going to be amazing whatever you put in it!  I don’t know anyone who’s made the switch over, but I really only know one person in the real world with a nondiamond (that I know of) ring, and she l.o.v.e.s her sapphire. On a board once before I officially joined the hive I saw a girl who went from a clear to black diamond.

I have a beautiful diamond e-ring…but I’m switching to a sapphire. I love the sparkle of my diamond but I think my blue sapphire ring with a diamond halo is going to be magnificent.

@abirdword:

I was just thinking the same thing! – Unless I’m suffering temporary amneasia and with the day I had I wouldn’t be fully suprised haha. I think I’ve only seen her more than amazing pink sapphire. KatyElle – get some pictures up, woman! =D

@abirdword:  Nope, not yet! I’ll start a thread when I have the full set though.

@KatyElle:  Ditto. Except I have a blue sapphire and am putting in a moissy OEC. Unenhanced though as I still prefer some warm colour over colourless! I just need to figure out whether I want to try and use my current head or get a new one put in.

I love my blue and coloured stones generally over colourless …but I LOVE the OEC cut sooo much and will fit more with my preference to wear mixed stackers (more neutral than the blue).

I will still add and have option of adding colour with stackers.

More colourless (more white/icey) stones do not quite do it for me though.

Coloured stones in halos look beautiful when well done!

I should add, I didn’t get trade the sapphire for the moissanite or anything, but when it was time to get a “substitute” ring, I ended up falling in love with moissanite and making it my e-stone! I got a warm stone too, no enhancement here! My ideal diamond color is an I or even lower, so it was perfect. I love the sparkle, fire, and life of the stone. It really is a spectacular gem.

@NurseMarriedToAFarmer:  *prepares tar and feathers* haha just kidding.

@abirdword:  I can’t answer any of your other questions, but I think both colorless and colored stones look good in a halo setting! I think colored stones look better if you want a big center stone with a halo, and colorless look better if you want a smaller center stone with a halo. Just personal opinion, though. That being said, I’ve never looked at any halo setting (seen here on the bee, as this is the only place I’ve seen them lol) and thought it was anything other than beautiful, regardless of size and color. Halos are the one setting that tempts me out of the kind of ring I really want lol.

@abirdword:  Here’s a bad pic, but you can get a general idea
