My Fiance is currently working in a restaurant at a country club before starting dental school, and often works the evening shift. I get sooo bored sitting at home on Friday and Saturday nights with not a lot to do. I really want to see Mamma Mia 2, and was debating going by myself today or tomorrow and having a ‘treat myself’ day, getting popcorn and a slushie and what not and just enjoying the time out of the house alone. Has anyone done this? I don’t know why I feel weird going by myself haha but it’s one of the only things I can think of to do that will get me out of the house.

I’ve definitely gone to the movies by myself! Not weird at all! (And I really want to see the Mamma Mia sequel! My hubby at least is a fan of musicals, and we watched the first one this week, but if he wasn’t interested, I’d totally go by myself!)

I’ve gone alone a few times. The last movie I treated myself to was Victoria & Abdul the day before my husband and I got married. It’s nice to just quietly enjoy the movie and have my own giant popcorn and soda and not share it.

I’ve gone to movies by myself. It’s not strange at all.

When I was in grad school and living alone I went to the movies myself a lot. Tuesday was discount tickets and refreshments day, so I would go at like 10 AM and often have a theater to myself. Loved it.

I have 3 days off during the week while my SO is at work. So I see movies ALL the time by myself. I just got home from seeing Eighth Grade. Lot’s of other people were also there alone. I say it’s totally normal and that you should go for it!

I definitely have! It’s not weird. It can be really enjoyable. If you have a movie you want to go see – do it! No one else really notices, and they definitely don’t care.

Alllll the time. No one to make you run late so you miss the previews, no one to steal your snacks, no one to distrct you during the movie, and finding one seat in a crowded theatre is way easier than finding two or more!

Going to the movies alone can be sooooo great! Definitely go! Not weird at all. In fact, sometimes I prefer it, especially something highly anticipated. Can’t stand people talking, making predictions, or commenting on a character’s actions (or lack thereof). I don’t pay to hear commentary, and we unfortunately have some family members who talk throughout movies, theater or not. Hubby loves going to the movies, but aside from superhero movies and action movies, our interests don’t overlap.

I love to go to the movies by myself! I don’t have to share my snacks! And I can leave before the credits are over if I want! (My husband sits through allllll of the credits 😴)

Yes, and I LOVE IT. The only time it was awkward was when I went to see The Perks of Being a Wallflower and these sweet teenage girls saw me sitting alone and asked if I would like to sit with them haha!

Hell yeah! All the time. In fact I’m going by myself tomorrow to see the Mr. Rogers documentary because I know I will ugly cry and don’t want to have to explain why.
It’s great. You don’t have to share your snacks. You alone get to decide if you want to sit through the credits. You don’t have to listen to complaining that they didn’t like the movie you picked.
Don’t feel weird. Besides….It isn’t like movies are social activities. You sit in a row and all face the front ignoring each other and paying attention to a screen. I’d sooner go to the movies alone than on a date because what is the point of spending time with someone if the activity is ignoring each other for two hours? We can ignore each other for free watching tv in the living room if we want.

I LOVE to go to the movies alone! I was nervous about it the first time I went because I thought it just wasn’t something people did. But after going alone I prefer to go to the movies alone. Treat yourself!

fourthnoel : my mom use to go by herself all the time and we would say “that is so weird” (i was 13), but honestly she just wanted to see movies that no one else did, so she did.
I see people by themselves alllll the time. I went by myself to go watch Fantastic Beasts (DH isn’t really into HP) i felt nervous, but i really enjoyed it. No one cared or even paid any attention to me.
