So my Fiance and I had such big plans for our honeymoon. But along with planning and paying for the wedding we are building a house which will close just weeks after the wedding. So after alot of discussion we decided that we REALLY wanted to take a great honeymoon the smart thing will be to save the money right now. I am a big world traveller so it saddens me but now I am starting to be okay with the idea. Our wedding will be in NC and we are just going to borrow my parents car (because we live out west) and start roadtripping down the coast. Thinking about heading to Charleston and Savhannah. We have roadtripped before and had a wonderful time even if we didn’t “do” much. Anyone else doing this? Anyone actually pretty darn excited to spend some great time with their Fiance which isn’t clouded by excitement of just extravagant travel? We might end up in some weird little towns or run down motels but that would make us laugh even harder and remember it forever.

We’re thinking about it. We had big honeymoon plans too, but now the wedding costs are increasing a bit, and we’re thinking maybe we should scale back the honeymoon to make room for all of the things that will make our wedding day a blast for us and our guests!
I think we might go to Vermont and maybe do some B&Bs.

That is what we are doing…going to be a blast…just going to take us where ever the road leads us…few stops along the way are planned though

Our plan next summer is to do a roadtrip for our honeymoon! We have the whole summer off, as we work in the schools, so we are planning on taking a few weeks and heading to the East Coast. (Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick…as we live in Ontario). We are super pumped because this is something we have always talked about doing and now we have a good excuse! Plus I think it’ll be nice to unwind after the wedding in the car together… and staying at little B&Bs will be sweet for a honeymoon. I’m all for the roadtrip!

We did this. Our wedding was just before Christmas and even though I had my heart set on a trip to Vietnam, the cost of flights was crazy expensive. So we decided to delay the overseas idea and drove up the coast instead. We stayed at lovely bed & breakfasts and had a whole beach house to ourselves for a week. The memories are fantastic – we have always enjoyed road trips so it made sense to have one, plus it’s a family tradition now (both my parents and grandparents had road trips for their honeymoon). Just the other day we were laughing again over something we heard on the radio on that trip. I would definitely recommend it 🙂 Oh, and delaying overseas worked out too – we ended up being invited to a wedding in Canada in April so we got our bigger trip pretty soon afterwards and it was worth the wait!

We did a 3-month backpacking trip through Asia a few months back and it was the trip of a lifetime. We consider that our honeymoon, but wanted to do something to celebrate after. So we decided to stay at a B&B a few hours away for a couple nights after the wedding and then immediately after we come back, we will be driving across country from NY to CO where we will be living after the wedding. So it’s kind of a roadtrip honeymoon!

We are definitely thinking of doing this- stopping at B&B’s and possibly doing some camping. I think it will be a lot of fun, but we definitely want to plan a more extavagant excursion later on when we can save up the funds for it. 🙂

I wanted to do a roadtrip because they can be so much fun. If you do, check out roadsideamerica.com. My sister and I used them when we went from St. Louis to Yuma, Arizona. We saw lots of cool stuff.

We are going to Napa, but there will be a lot of driving involved. We will fly to San Francisco because we live in Ohio. From there we will drive 1.5 hours north to Napa. We plan to drive along the coast on highway 1 during the trip and explore vineyards!

Delight – We are going to do the same thing!
I think we will fly there, and rent a car.
I’m so excited as both of us has never been!

Well I hear the East Coast is amazing, and I can’t wait. We would fly but… we are both avid golfers, and need to pack all our golf gear in the car!! Nice to see a fellow Ontarian out here on the boards!

- Wedding: June 2010 - New York Botanical Garden
That sounds like an awesome honeymoon – I would love to do that with Mr. HC at some point.

YAY! I am getting excited about it too!
@ cherryblossom80 welcome to colorado! I just moved here 8 months ago and love it!
@jaylii9 you will love Napa! My favorite there is the Chateau Montelana. A small winery with a wonderful atmosphere. And the Merryvale has great inexpesive wine tasting classes in their cask room
I am with you guys that the memories will be wonderful. I think we have settled on Charleston and Savannah. I am from NC and my Fiance hasn’t had much of a chance to explore the south.
And it is a great tradition. All my family took little roadtrips for their honeymoon. Just the other night my parents were cackling on the phone about their honeymoon stories and they just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

we are doing a 4-6 week roadtrip for our honeymoon next july! i am sooo excited about it. we are driving from NY to Washington and stopping at a bunch of national parks to camp and hike and in between the camping, we will stay at B&Bs or hotels. We could go to Europe or a tropical island for 5 days and spend 2 of those days traveling or we could spend 6 weeks together expoloring the good ol US of A. I am beyond excited about it and the memories will last a lifetime!!
