I was just wondering if you tried to grow out you hair for your wedding or had an ideal length you were aiming for.
My hair has always been long but never super long, I am aiming for tailbone I’m almost at waist.
Did you end up growing your hair to you desired length or having extensions.
Please share your growing or non growing experiences?

Yes I’m growing it now and can’t stand it! For the last few years I’ve had a long bob or chest length with a fringe and now I’m just growing it all out in case I make any cutting decisions I regret! But it seems so boring and shapeless now – I just want my bob back!

hang in there! Why not get long layers to break up the boringness of it. My hair is about all one length, but I rarely wear it straight because it’s wavy so I don’t miss layers as much as I thought I would 🙂

Yes! I did! I had very long hair (below waist) and had a colouring disaster ending in severe hair breakage about 3 years ago and approximately 6 months before meeting my now husband. Majority of the lenghts of my hair disintegrated and I had to cut what little of the lengths was left and for the first time in my life had hair that was neck length. I hated it and wore super long extension ponytails for a very long time while growing it out/ for the first Month of dating I don’t think my husband knew!!! (There was no shocking reveal moment – once I was comfortable with him I think I just very casually integrated my natural shorter hair to him seeing me that way and he was always very complimentary either way). Ever since the disaster I have been growing my hair out. And it was always at the back of my mind that I wanted my hair long by the time I would get married. It’s 3 years later and my hair is middle of my back. I got married a week ago. In the end I wore my hair up, but without extensions (just a filler bun in the middle), my own hair was enough to cover the filling. It was however important to me to have natural long flowing locks on our beachy honeymoon! I massage my scalp to speed up growth and have trimmed my hair frequently but just tiny bit to have healthier looking long hair. It is still very thin at the ends as I haven’t fully out grown and cut out the damaged ends of my hair that Didn’t break off 3 years ago, but it’s getting there!

My hair would not grow past my shoulders, no matter what I did, for years!! I sometimes wore extensions in high school and as she was putting them in for prom, I mentioned how I would have to wear them for my wedding too because my hair would never be that long…well after I graduated high school and went away to college, I was taking a shit ton of biotin and got away from the well water, my hair started growing! Now almost 6 years later, my hair is below my waist and I didn’t have to wear extensions for my wedding! My hair is so long now and I have no idea what to do with it. I hardly ever wear it down because it’s such a pain. My wedding was almost 2 weeks ago and I’m going later this week to cut about a foot off!
This was 4 years ago:
This was at my first dress fitting in March:

I have always preferred a bob that fell just below my chin but when I got engaged so decided to grow my hair out for the wedding.
This was in August – just a month before the engagement.
And here is my hair now.
Our wedding is in December and I hope to have a few more inches of growth and be able to forgo extensions for the updo I have in mind.

You are beautiful either way! You hair looks amazing now, and it looks like you could pull off the shorter look too 🙂
Your hair is gorgeous and so beautiful experiment with braids and cute hair clips, but don’t cut off too much or you might regret losing such beautiful length 🙂

Beautiful you suit either, you have a lovely face, and look at the thick luscious length and the colour is beautiful 🙂 Just wondering are you going to have a gatsby inspired gown (because of your profile name) just wondering you excude a classic elegance to me 😉

My hair is fine and goes really flat and limp when past between shoulders and mid back. I sprung for clip in extensions day of also for fullness and they worked out nicely. My hair/makeup gal worked with them, I should use them for other occasions since they are reusable.
Usual, after cut and blowout/style

Thank you for the compliments! Your hair is so gorgeous! I love the balayag! I’ve always been too scared to try to add color to my hair!
I am having a Gatsby/Art Deco inspired wedding complete with a gown that has the “feel” of the times; hopefully it will all come together!

So as a long haired girl that was contemplating getting a hair cut – what are the reasons for growing your hair out? Sounds like many of your prefer to have short hair but atr growing it out for the wedding..why? (: just trying to understand if there’s something that I missed in thinking about cutting mine

Working on it since my style is short lob…agh it’s taking forever though…my hair hates to be below shoulders

There is a lot more variety of formal styles with long hair versus short hair. However, what cinched it for me is that my Fiance prefers long hair. He would never tell me how to wear my hair and always encourages me to do what I like best but I felt that long hair for the wedding would be something he would like.
