Hi Bees!!
Just scheduled my consult for laser hair removal on my bikini line. I’m Persian and have essentially fur that reaches almost halfway to my knees on my inner thighs. Shaving it takes forever and I grow back before the rash from waxing has even gone down. I don’t have PCOS or a hormonal imbalance – just genetics! Curious if anyone has experience with laser hair removal? Going to a board certified dermatologist for it. I have black hair and parchment white skin.
Thanks bees!

Me! I am southern italian and so I share your problem! Also very white skin and dark, thick hair. I had 3 sessions a few years ago, and 6 this year. I don’t shave anymore, just a little touch up once in a blue moon that takes 2 mins! The little hair I have left is super thin, light and brittle. AND I have done brazilian, full legs and buttocks too and got amazing results with it as well. I will be going for underarms and lip soon. I love it!!! I am always in short shorts for running, and that really changed my life!!!

me! I’ve done legs and underarms. Legs worked well, underarms still have some hair and I’ve done multiple touch up treatments on them 🙁 .
It works well on dark hair, I hear!
I have dark brown hair, fair-lightly tanned skin, and medium to above average hairiness.
I went to the Ideal Image chain that is available in most states.

Pakistani here. Also have a lot of hair and my bikini area hair is insanely coarse! I did full Brazilian laser and 10/10 recommend! I did one set of 6 sessions. While it didn’t get rid of the hair completely, I saw 60% reduction and my Brazilian waxes since then have been WAY less painful and hardly take 10 minutes since I don’t have to go over the same place over and over again as my roots are less stubborn now. I am planning on doing another 6 sessions with a more effective laser (Yag probably) as the one I had gotten done with was an Alma Soprano which is completely painless but results aren’t as effective.
ETA- have also done forearm and underarms. Underarms will need another 6 sessions but again, waxing since then has become so much faster and less painful. Forearm hair is nearly gone. Last time I waxed my full arms was 4 months ago. Currently, my upper arm is hairy but my forearm looks like it was waxed just a week ago when it wasn’t! There’s barely any hair!

dobby98 : My doc said that she thinks 6 sessions should take care of it and just require minimal shaving touch ups to keep things ultra smooth. So thrilled to hear about your (and all the other bees!) results and it’s really encouraging!

I’m not middle eastern, but I also have very dark hair and pale skin. I’ve done underarms, legs, and brazilian bikini. I am in love with the results. I only shave once in a blue moon, when I think to, and there’s no razor burn or coarse stubble. What hair is left is baby-fine.

I’m caucasion with dark brown hair and light skin, and am way hairy than one should be! I’ve had lots of different areas lasered. My bikini responded the absolute best and was complete in 6 sessions. Underarms are the slowest to progress and I am still working on these.
I think it’s good you are going to a reputable place and not just a spa- that should make you feel more confident that you will get the best treatment possible. I went to a plastic surgeon office and honestly I paid way more than what’s available (especially on Groupon, etc.) but I don’t regret it because i’ve never had any ill side effects.

elizabee17 : I’ve heard that you should always go to a plastic surgeon or dermatolgoist! I love my dermatologist and I’m thrilled that she will be able to do it! I’m very happy with my underarm hair removal routine but not at all with my bikini line so I’m hoping this will take care of it. Glad to hear it only took six sessions!! I’ve got the money saved up to have 12 if needed but I’d rather not obviously!! Have you by any chance had your upper lip done? I’ve considered it. I’m happy with my hair removal routine there but I’m always happy to have lower-effort options!

graced : I haven’t had my upper lip but I had some stray chin hairs that were successfully lasered off in about 6 treatments.

I’m a very pale Caucasian with brown hair and apparently some red? which is meant to be super hard to deal with.
I’ve been going 1 year (appt every 6 weeks) and I don’t have underarm hair basically… a get like 6 hairs back after about 2 months
my bikini is harder with the red. its dramatically reduced but still going. the clinic I go to gives you 40% off if you pass a year so.now I’m on a way cheaper rate. I hope by next year that should be on maintenance too

I’ve had about 4-5 sessions on my Brazilian area and the hair grows back quite minimally now. I also had issues with razor burn and ingrowns and it has basically eliminated that problem now. I would redo it in a heartbeat! I will probably do my underarms and possibly stomach.

Posted in a similar thread before. I’ve had laser hair removal done and it’s one of the best decisions! I have jet black hair and medium skin, so it worked well for me. No more irritation from shaving! I get a touch-up every 6 months or a year or so. Whatever hair does grow back is a lot thinner so it doesn’t bother me in between. 🙂

I’m curious if anyone with blonde hair has tried this? I am blonde, tanned and struggle with facial hair.

Hereforthecake : it won’t work on your hair. It picks up constrast between skin and hair (fair skinned with dark hair has best results). I have blonde leg hair and my laser tech told me i would be wasting my money to try laser on it since I’d see very minimal
ETA I bought eyebrow razors and started shaving my face. Don’t have to do it often but it also exfoliates the top layer of your skin and makes your makeup go on smoother. Would recommend. I was worried about hair getting prickly as it grew back but it doesn’t!
