I swear by biotin, 2 years ago I had bad breakage at the back of my head due to over use of straighteners. Within 6 weeks my hair stylist noticed the difference. 2 years later my hair is all one length no breakage. In addition I really take care of my hair, I always did this so the breakage was a shock. Shampoo no more than twice a week. Use protein products only in the first 2 washes and styling post highlighs. I use heat protection before I dry and again on my dry hair before the straightener.

I have and my stylist noticed a difference as well. I’ve always had fine hair and wanted it to look fuller and biotin helped tremendously. Quite a few people have said that it causes breakouts but I’ve never had that issue. I read that if you drink a lot of water, that should prevent it from happening.

ETA…found a pic for you. Apologies for the weird pose. I took it for a shoe forum and was trying to show my shoes yell

I have taken biotin for years now. It’s good for nails too. My hair has always been ok, but I’m not taking any chances.

You could also try minoxidil for women.

I take biotin and found it has really helped my hair.

With a professional job I really need to blow dry my hair every other day, and post school I could not grow my hair at all.

Started taking Biotin, and I wouldn’t say I have GREAT hair, but it has improved so so much.

@Waytooexcited:  Be careful with putting oil in your hair. Last year I decided to treat myself to a bunch of new, all natural products and do regular masks with a coconut-based product (lockdown self-care!) and they made my hair FALL OUT. Like seriously horrible amounts of hair were lost, Roomba was traumatised, and now I have these little fluffs where the hair is regrowing but now shorter than the rest! Turns out hair loss can occur from coconut oil. Took me ages to figure out the cause, I honestly thought I might be really ill. 😂 So just Google the oil name plus hair loss to make sure whatever you’re using isn’t making the problem worse.

I do take biotin daily but haven’t really noticed a difference, to be honest, maybe the effect is too subtle for me to notice. I keep taking it just in case, it can’t hurt!

@Waytooexcited:  aww I’m sorry you’re going through this 🙁

FWIW I have tried multiple times in my life to go on Biotin supps – but each time it caused the most awful cystic acne breakouts. I think I just react badly to it.

If you have sensitive skin/hormonal acne like I do, you may experience those side effects.

But if you’re lucky enough not to, apparently they work wonders!

If it’s stress-related though….I don’t think a supplement is powerful enough to counteract that kind of trauma to your hair if it’s still ongoing. Hoping you’re able to get yourself right!

Good luck!!!

Just wanted to chime in to say that biotin caused me to have breakouts. I wasn’t taking it on its own; it was in my prenatal and I had to find one that didn’t contain biotin. My breakouts have cleared up since.

I have noticed a HUGE difference in my postpartum hair loss and regrowth by continuing with my prenatals.

I started taking biotin when I noticed my hair was falling out due to stress at work. It’s helped my hair grow faster and look healthier! It didn’t cause any breakouts on my face. I totally recommend it!

@curlygirlp:  Could also be due to folic acid. I know a woman who happens to be the owner of a hair salon and she swears by them for hair growth. That was her primary reason for taking prenatals.

@Waytooexcited:  I had good success with Biotin.  I also take collegen and Magnesium daily.  I had thinner hair that was getting bad damage.  After starting suppliments and being very careful with the handling of my wet hair I have about 7″ of good healthy growth.  My hair stylist showed me the new hair in the mirror on my last visit. I was surpised it actually worked!
