Mine is a half-carat Leo diamond in a round cut. I wear a size 5 ring. It is kinda medium-sized, not tiny, but not big either. A nice size for smaller fingers and it looks fantastic with my wedding band.

I have a solitaire thats 1/2 carat….and my fingers are MUCH bigger than yours (I wear a size 7.)   I’ve always been very pleased with the size of the diamond just because I’m not really a blingy jewelry type of girl (although I still drool over them…just don’t like to wear them).  Anyhoo…so, yeah.  I love my ring.  The wedding band I have is just a thin platinum band and the diamond sits over it.  So the optical illusion of the diamond against a small band really makes it pop.

I have a .71, and its very sparkly so I think it looks bigger than some in the same range. It’s a little bigger than what you’re getting (congratulations!) but since you haven’t had any pictures yet, I thought I’d show you for a frame of reference since I also have size 4 hands:

That’s with my band, obviously. It looks bigger without the wedding band because the setting’s band is so thin.

YES YES YES!  I have a round cut, .54 ct. solitare (no diamonds on the side or anything) just plain tiffany’s setting.  I love it!!  It is so versitile, simple and beautiful!  You can get whatever kind of band to go with and dress it up later on. πŸ™‚

I hear that round rings usually look bigger than the princess cuts because so much of the wt of the diamond in princess cuts go into the corners of the diamond. Sooooo…. if you are looking to maximize the size of your ring looks-wise, I would recommend going with the round diamonds.. or if you really like the look of princess there is a cut out there that is like a princess but with the very corners cut so more of the wt of the diamond is in the center rather than the corners which makes it look bigger πŸ™‚

@futuremrsmartin11: Your welcome πŸ™‚ I have a princess cut and absolutely LOVE it but it does look smaller than round diamonds I see with the same weight… I didn’t know this before I told me fiance my shape preference! But even still, I do love my princess… so it would just depend on what you prefer the shape of the princess or the shape of the round but just keep in mind that round does look bigger if that’s what you like πŸ˜€

My ring is a princess cut solitaire, a little less than a 1/2 carat (I believe .41).  Even though I have a size 6 ring, I believe the size is perfect for me.  I’ve never been into rings or diamonds, so I feel as though any bigger would be awkward for me.  Also, I have a thin band and cathedral setting, both of which I think makes the ring look bigger.  One thing I will say about smaller diamonds… you can get AMAZING quality.  My fiance bought my ring from a family friend that is a jeweler, and she pushed for quality over quantity… so happy she did.

I have a 0.54 carat on my <size 5 finger. It’s a radiant cut (Hearts on Fire likes to be snooty and call it a Dream cut). I think it’s the perfect size.

@futuremrsmartin

I know you weren’t thrilled about the round cut, BUT I wanted to add that they sparkle A LOT, so thats one bonus with the round shape πŸ™‚
