onceuponadream:  I live in the midwest.  I mean, I have heard of them (in the way that any party can be a surprise) but I’ve never been to them.  I don’t think they’re common.  I think every bride knows the date, time, and location but not the specific details.

I grew up on the east coast and live in Chicago now, I’ve also lived in Arizona. I’ve never heard of a surprise shower.

I hate surprises. Never heard of a surpise shower. I’ve been to showers where the theme/colours/games etc were a suprise but not a suprise shower.

I’m in Chicago, and I’ve NEVER heard of a surprise shower! Like the bride usually isn’t involved with planing, but she knows when it is!

onceuponadream:  This is not a thing in our area and I would hate it. I’m a planner so I would hate not knowing when it was going to happen.

I’m from WI and have never been to a surprise shower.

Add me to another who hasn’t heard of them being a surprise. Generally the bride gives the guest list, so it’s kind of hard for it to be a surprise when you ask for that haha.

I’m from Australia and have also never heard of a surprise shower. I’m actually attending one in a couple of weeks for a friend and she is well aware of what’s happening.

I had two showers – one was a surprise, one wasn’t. I accidentally found out about the surprise shower a week or two beforehand, but I was still surprised by some things (location, etc.)! I enjoyed my surprise shower more, but that was more due to the guest list (my friends and family vs. DH’s family and friends).

I’ve lived in three different states and never been to a shower that was a surprise.

onceuponadream:  I voted I requested, but it’s more of a I will request since it hasn’t happened yet. For me, I just don’t do well with surprises. I like to be prepared so I’m ready, and even though it’s probably against etiquette, I want a little say (as in not too big, something simple and low key, no games, etc) because I would hate to be miserable and seem unappreciative when it’s just that I don’t do well in that situation.

I grew up in CT and now live in Boston and have never been to a surprise shower. I’ve heard of them but no one I know has actually had one in real life.

onceuponadream:  I had three, none of which were surprises. That’s not really a “thing” here.

I would have been SUPER STRESSED OUT if I thought I was having a surprise shower. I thought that maaaaybe my paternal cousins were going to turn a girls-day-tea into a sort of shower for me and got dolled up. (It ended up being just tea but they asked when I was free to have a shower hosted by them.) If I had had to get gussied up every damn weekend in case I was going to be stared at by all my nearest and dearest I would have lost it.

I am from Georgia! My Maid/Matron of Honor is planning my shower and asked if I had a specific theme that I might want, but I dont really know anything else.  I’ll be getting my makeup done that morning and wear a cute dress but that is all I know! lol.  They kinda have to tell me about the shower because I am coming in from VA.
