Hi bees… I’m a little freaking out about a childhood friend of my FI’s who got married yesterday. Her wedding and ours will have a lot of guest overlap. I was so dismayed to see her in a dress so similar to mine! Both are full lace fit-to-flares, with fully covered backs. The fully covered back (as opposed to a keyhole) is what I thought made my dress unique and what I love most about it, but now I don’t feel like it’s unique at all since she just wore one too! Our wedding is not for another 4 months, but I dread the thought of guests saying “oh, your dress looks just like B’s.”
Now, granted, the necklines are a little different, though neither is strapless, which I also thought was more unique but now apparently not so much, either.
Am I over-reacting? I’m obviously not going to change my dress but right now I just feel disappointed.

I would feel the same way, but the dress is what YOU want and focus on that. You’re walking down the aisle to YOUR man and he’ll be blown away. Nothing else matters 🙂
Lace, sleeves, and a line are all really “in” right now, so I wouldn’t sweat it. You’ll look beautiful! 🙂

@leahlou: Thanks! You’re absolutely right… I just needed someone to keep me in check!

lace is in and so many are wearing it. no one from the wedding 4 months ago is going to specifically remember what the bride’s dress looked like. don’t worry about it.
you are stressing over nothing.

@kate13dc: I have one better, my cousin picked a dress similar to mine (even the coloring), knowing what I got. My wedding is first, so whatever, nothing that I can do.

@FoxyBride14: oh no, I’m so sorry to hear that! At least you get the benefit of being first and having more of the element of surprise

@kate13dc: Yea, and at least people know who picked it out first.
