I also deal with super light and super short AF. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get pregnant yet. I also deal with high(er) FSH numbers. So I’m not sure which one the real problem is. This is what I’ve learnt:

Light periods doesn’t always mean that your lining is thin. Have you had an U/S to confirm this?

If your lining is in fact thin you can boost it with acupuncture and/or femoral massage. It will increase blood flow to the uterus and therefor your lining should get thicker. Red Rasberry Leaf Tea from CD1 to O is also supposed to help. Other things are: make sure your feet stay warm and drink warm beverages only. It all helps to increase bloodfow. How is the colour of your AF? Pink, bright red, brown? Do you have any clotting? I know that my AP wants AF to be bright red without any clotting. We’ve managed to get that but AF is still super short. I haven’t had an US to re-measure my lining but will do so wants we start IUI in September.

On another note, not just the thickness of the lining is important. You also want a triple stripe lining. This can also be seen on an U/S.

If you haven’t had an U/S yet, I would try to get one just before O. This way you’ll know for sure if you are in fact dealing with thin lining or if this is just how your body works. Good luck my dear!

I agree with everything @elchalten: said.  I posted a chart a long time ago that showed how your lining develops during your cycle – basically, it continues to develop well after O and is at its thickest at about 10 DPO.  As long as you are making it that far, I think you are fine.

And, yes, I am currently enjoying a very healthy pregnancy and had very light periods after coming off BCP, so it is definitely possible.

I just had myall guy and afusually was 3 days with no spotting. I did have some miscarriages prior, but the length of af was never given to me as a reason

This has me slightly worried. I’ve only been off BCP for 2 months but AF is never more than 2 days, usually tappering off half way through the second day. I had no idea it would be an issue but it makes sense.

Just wanted to post to say- yes- totally possible.  I have always had a super light flow.  Have never been able to use a tampon- no need!  I get a light AF for usually one day and what I would describe as spotting for one or two more.  I have two healthy daughters- so a very light AF did not affect me at all!

@eeniebeans:  Thank you so much for your input! This is exactly me. No tampon needed. And I don’t get two days of bleeding. This makes me hopeful that at least the lining is not the issue.

@mrsjapley:  Try not to worry about it too much especially since you just came of birth control. Your body is just starting to ovulate again and AF might come back in full flow. FX that you won’t have any trouble to conceive. Good luck.

@Wispy:  FX that you won’t need the HSG! Good luck with your scan next week.

I have had light periods too the past year 2-3 days max. I was doing AP and drank raspberry leaf tea the cycle I got pregnant. As long as it is bright red I wouldn’t worry and you can ask your doc at next u/s Im sure they would mention if lining was concern. Also about HSG FX you get BFP before but just wanted to give my experience it wasn’t bad at all I had some mild cramps about a minute and it didn’t hurt. I think if your tubes are not blocked it won’t hurt and I read on internet that HSG slightly increases chance of conception by clearing small obstructions and smoothing things out. Wishing you lots of Good luck and BFP very soon!!

You ladies are soooo lucky! Mine shows up every 60 days and literally hemorrages for about two weeks straight! I go through 2 large packs of overnight maxis per AF! Once i had one that lasted 21 days of steady flow. Of course i have low estrogen and sky-high progesterone and i dont ovulate properly, but still, i wish so bad that i had a three-day period! I am green with envy!

@TheSpoons:  Phuu, I’m sorry you are having such a heavy flow. I can understand that you would love to deal with 2-3 days of AF.

@Wispy:  I know you aksed silver but I thought I would share. I usually get my tea at the local grocery store (save on foods, whole foods, london drugs). It is in the regular tea section or just next to it in the natural/organic tea section. this is the brand I normaly buy.

I am currently pregnant (19w) and my period only lasted for 3 days, 4 days max. I have had a miscarriage (blighted ovum in February), but everything is healthy looking with this pregnancy! Good luck to you!
