jeepher : I would caution you that ADD/ADHD is a catch-all diagnosis for kids with behavioral issues. Even though my son showed none of the ADD symptions (straight A’s/Gifted kid very organized with a great ability to focus, never lost homework or zoned out) and limited hyperactivity (aka he was a young boy), they still diagnosed him with this due to other behavioral issues he had.
We sought a second and third and I cant even tell you how many opionions and got diagnosis of ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, ODD, etc.
Based on a really good family counselor and my own reading I feel he has ODD. The family counselor spent the most time with us in home and saw him in context and gave this diagnosis. So he is a smart kid with ODD which she said is basically “the most difficult kid to parent”.
Get different opinions and do your own research. Your daughter may have ADD/ADHD… but dont be easily convinved just because one doc says so.
