Anyone have a second, "cheaper" version of their engagement ring?

If I were to get a second ring to wear I would personally go with a CZ or white sapphire. My current ring is a moissanite and even though they’re cheaper than diamond rings they still aren’t cheap. I’d be ok with losing a CZ from Amazon or something, but would be devastated if I lost a beautiful moissy.

I have a cheap spare… but I bought it first when I was trying to decide which stone dimension I wanted (eBay CZ). I wear it when we go to the beach or travelling in the Caribbean.

I have a rare colored gemstone ring so it’s impossible to replicate. That said, I leave it in the safe and wear a plain 10K gold (US $45) or tungsten carbide (US $20) band while traveling. If I’m feeling fun I’ll stack with a topaz or a citrine gemstone ring (US $100-ish)

Moissanite is a lot cheaper than a diamond but still usually in the US $500-$1000 range. I don’t know what your financial situation is like but I’d be really upset if a piece in that price range got lost or stolen.

If you have the classic diamond and platinum or white gold combo, I’d personally get a US $50 Berricle CZ and sterling ring. They have loads of styles and I’ve seen them in person and can vouch for their quality.

I got dummy ring for beach trips coming up for this summer :).   I know more than few people who lost Ering because taking off at public place and left, ring size was big and slip off the finger etc… and of course lost at beach too…   so I got exact same design ring with CZ but stone is little smaller than my real ering. So I am planning to wear this summer. ๐Ÿ˜€  And it cost me only $38 ๐Ÿ˜

I’ve thought about it, but I’ve decided that I have insurance for a reason, so I would just replace it if it’s lost.  I would miss wearing it.

Not a fan of decoy rings regardless of the purpose.  I would just wear a plain gold band.

I have a few stand ins for travel or the beach but they are CZ and not an exact replica of my real one.

I have a stand in. But i dont think i could spend a ton on a “replica” ring. Moissanite can still be spendy. My stand in is a bezel moissanite… But it was an eBay cheapie.

My stand in is a sterling silver.5 ctw charles and colvard classic I absolutely love it and wear it off and on and when traveling!

the solitaire was like 189 plus tax and the bands are simply silver bands no more than 15 or 20 each!

it doesn’t look anything like my platinum and diamond wedding set but I love it too!

and probably would be upset if I lost it lmao ๐Ÿ˜†

If you fear losing it, get what you like (although there should be no fear of losing properly fit rings, no matter where you are). If you fear someone taking it from you, it makes no sense to have a replica, as no one would be able to tell the difference at a glance. I wear a plain band when we travel to places I fear my ring would be inappropriate.

I really don’t understand this concept but to each their own. If I’m not comfortable wearing my diamond engagement ring somewhere then I just don’t wear it. Why does someone always need to be wearing an engagement ring? I either wear just my band or nothing.
